Jannabi recharges emotions with their 4th full-length album... ranks high on the charts

Since the release of band Jannabi's fourth full-length album, 'Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE,' they have been receiving positive responses in the music industry. The title track, "First Love, Goodbye-," entered Melon's TOP100 and HOT100 as well as Bugs' real-time charts immediately after its release, reaffirming Jannabi's musical credibility. This album captivated listeners' hearts with its generational narrative and high level of completion through tracks like "Jack Kerouac" and "Mother," featuring Yang Hee-eun and AKMU's Lee Su-hyun.

Jannabi's main producer, Choi Jung-hoon, described this album as "the most Jannabi-like music and, at the same time, the newest Jannabi." He personally conveyed the sincerity behind the album and reflected on Jannabi's musical journey.

Choi Jung-hoon said, "This album carries a great sense of relief. It feels like putting old draft notes into a drawer and going to a stationery store to buy new notebooks, a refreshing sensation." He also explained that while 'Sound of Music pt.1' was a story aimed at the 'universe,' 'pt.2 : LIFE' is a story about standing on the 'ground,' emphasizing that the change he most wanted listeners to clearly feel was in the sound. He added, "pt.1 had many electronic elements, while pt.2 was guided to evoke a human nostalgia."

Jannabi has completed their albums like a single story, and for this fourth full-length album, they hoped each song would have its own charm. Choi Jung-hoon said, "Especially for pt.2, the songs were ones that had been dropped across several albums, so I felt more affection for them." He prefers a personal approach, mentioning, "The personal is the most original."

This album contains emotions and retrospection from everyday life. Choi Jung-hoon explained, "For me, romance is about reading the invisible," and maintaining a romantic attitude is a fundamental way of facing life. He added, "The persona of this album was myself and Jannabi itself."

Jannabi reached a peak in their career as a band by successfully completing their first KSPO Dome concert last August. Choi Jung-hoon said, "This album is a work that concludes the passionate year of 2025." He shared that he feels happiest when fans and listeners say, "We live in the same era as Jannabi."

The album's sound is much richer and more classical than before. Choi Jung-hoon said, "Although it changes slightly with each period, we have created results that are true to ourselves with every album." He explained the point of balancing 'reality' and 'fantasy' as starting from the image he envisions in his mind when writing songs.

Jannabi has shown a structure in each album that intersects real time and musical fantasy. Choi Jung-hoon revealed, "For this album, I intentionally let go quickly," working to preserve spontaneity. He said, "I want to work more thoroughly on the next album."

Choi Jung-hoon mentioned that he "made this album while walking," explaining how walking time influenced melodies and lyrics. He said, "Walking is not easy in Korea, but I walk a lot in New York." He observes people in environments good for walking and records ideas while listening to instrumental versions of songs.

The two tracks, "Jack Kerouac" and "Mother," attracted attention as collaborations bridging generations. Choi Jung-hoon said that working with Yang Hee-eun made him feel, "It would be completed as a true story of youth." Regarding working with Lee Su-hyun, he said, "It made me think that we are all growing up well."

The title track, "First Love, Goodbye-," is a song combining Jannabi's unique lyricism and orchestration. Choi Jung-hoon mentioned that balancing between childishness and immaturity when dealing with 'first love' was difficult, explaining, "I designed it so that unexpected developments would become hooks." He added that he enjoyed working on the song so much that he felt reluctant to finish it.

Through this album, Jannabi aims to deepen their relationship with fans and document their musical journey. Choi Jung-hoon said, "I hope that when we listen to these songs again someday, we naturally recall this time in our lives."
