BLACKPINK Rosé, aiming for 3 Grammy main awards

BLACKPINK's Rosé's "Apartment" and the OST "Golden" from the Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters" have become the first K-pop entries to be nominated for the main categories at the Grammy Awards. On the 7th (local time), the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. "Apartment," performed by Rosé and Bruno Mars, was nominated in three categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The OST "Golden" from "K-Pop Demon Hunters" was nominated for Song of the Year, competing against "Apartment." It was also nominated in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best Remixed Recording, totaling five nominations.

HYBE's global girl group CATS EYE was nominated for Best New Artist and also received a nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, resulting in multiple K-pop nominations in that category. This marks the first time since BTS that the K-pop genre has been nominated in the main categories at the Grammy Awards, and it is also the first time a K-pop female artist has been nominated in the main categories.

The Grammy Awards, the most prestigious ceremony in the American popular music industry, have been held annually since 1959. The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Rosé and Bruno Mars's "Apartment" elevated K-pop's status by being nominated not only for the main award but also for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. "Golden" also demonstrated K-pop's competitiveness with its nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

The girl group CATS EYE, a joint project between HYBE and Geffen Records, showcased K-pop's diversity with nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The Korean original musical "Maybe Happy Ending" was nominated for Best Musical Theater Album, enhancing the international recognition of Korean cultural content beyond K-pop.

The Recording Academy will conduct final voting from December 12 to January 5, 2026, with winners announced on February 1. This Grammy Awards, where K-pop artists are competing for main awards, is likely to be recorded as a historic moment for K-pop.
