Actor Jung Suk-won has decided to take the stage for the performance of "Candy in My Ear" together with his wife Baek Ji-young. On the 8th, a video titled "Jung Suk-won takes Ok Taec-yeon's spot after 16 years and performs 'Candy in My Ear' with Baek Ji-young (Concert ticket event included)" was released on Baek Ji-young's YouTube channel. Baek Ji-young explained, "At the upcoming Seoul concert, my husband Jung Suk-won will perform on the 'Candy in My Ear' stage. He had refused when I suggested it a few years ago, but now he's agreed."
Jung Suk-won expressed concern about performing in front of 5,000 audience members, saying, "If I do it, won't the fans dislike it?" In response, Baek Ji-young encouraged him, "Practicing the dance together was so enjoyable. When we made eye contact, my heart fluttered. No one can replace Jung Suk-won."
Jung Suk-won revealed his burden, saying, "A few years ago, my wife jokingly suggested doing 'Candy in My Ear' together, but I thought it was ridiculous. I thought it would be better to serve in the military again." He added, "My wife's company CEO asked me twice. Since I owe them, I thought this was a chance to repay the favor, so I manned up and said OK."
Before recording "Candy in My Ear," Jung Suk-won confessed a trauma: "When I first met my wife, we went to karaoke together. I focused on singing one song, and when I looked back, my wife was silently laughing. Since then, I haven't sung at all." Baek Ji-young explained, "I laughed because it was cute," but Jung Suk-won said, "It wasn't that kind of laugh," and added, "What if I ruin the performance? I don't even want my friends to see it, so I didn't invite them."
When a staff member asked, "If the response is good, will you perform again next year?" Jung Suk-won lay down and said, "I wouldn't do it even if you gave me a billion won." Baek Ji-young laughed and said, "He would do it even if you gave him ten million won." Before dance practice, Jung Suk-won expressed his burden, saying, "It feels like I'm reenlisting. It's like I'm about to have a kissing scene with a male actor." During the recording, when six cameras followed him, he showed anxiety, asking, "Honey, can't you be by my side?"
After two hours of recording, Jung Suk-won appeared withdrawn. Baek Ji-young expressed her expectations, saying, "We agreed to do a duet like Jay-Z and Alicia Keys later. My husband is really good at rapping." However, Jung Suk-won cracked a smile and warned, "Don't talk too much."
Jung Suk-won revealed behind-the-scenes details about his first meeting with Baek Ji-young. He said, "When we first met, we went to karaoke. After drinking, I sang, and my wife was silently laughing with her friend. That hurt me. Since then, I haven't sung at all." Baek Ji-young explained, "I really laughed because it was cute," but Jung Suk-won added, "Since then, I haven't sung at all."
Feeling the burden of the performance, Jung Suk-won said, "I can just say I won't do it. There are other people." But Baek Ji-young firmly stated, "No one can replace Jung Suk-won." In the end, Jung Suk-won replied, "I never even imagined it once." Baek Ji-young said, "After practicing, it felt so good. There's a part in our choreography where we look into each other's eyes during 'Too Sweet.' When we looked exactly then, my heart fluttered."
Jung Suk-won expressed his distress over his wife's request for the performance, saying, "Wouldn't it be better to go to the military instead?" Baek Ji-young encouraged him, saying, "I'll get you on stage even if I have to push you in a wheelchair." Jung Suk-won questioned, "Do you think that would help? The audience would be disappointed," but Baek Ji-young responded, "No, they'll love it."
Jung Suk-won honestly revealed the burden and tension he feels while preparing for the performance with his wife. His candidness brought much laughter to fans. Expectations are rising for how Jung Suk-won and Baek Ji-young's stage will unfold.
