Global girl group KATSEYE, formed by HYBE and Geffen Records, has proven its unparalleled global popularity by ranking first in monthly listeners among girl groups worldwide on Spotify. According to the latest Spotify data, KATSEYE recorded 33,401,675 monthly listeners. This figure surpasses the records of major global K-pop artists during the same period, making KATSEYE the girl group with the highest number of listeners.
The only group exceeding KATSEYE's streaming numbers is HUNTR/X, the virtual girl group from Netflix's film KPOP Demon Hunters. KATSEYE's hit song "Gabriela" has reached 401,843,268 cumulative streams on Spotify as of the 9th, continuing its explosive streaming growth. This achievement was reached about 143 days after its release on June 20, placing it among the top girl group songs released this year. KATSEYE now has two songs with over 400 million streams on Spotify. Before "Gabriela," "Touch" surpassed 500 million streams on October 28, and "Gnarly," released in April this year, has exceeded 320 million streams, showing an upward trend.
KATSEYE's debut song "Debut" and the title track "Gameboy" from "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" have each been streamed over 190 million and 120 million times respectively, heading toward the 200 million mark. The speed of streaming growth for each release is also accelerating. "Touch," released in July last year, surpassed 100 million streams in 80 days, while "Gnarly," released in April this year, achieved the same milestone in 52 days. "Gabriela" exceeded 100 million streams in just 38 days. Regarding surpassing 400 million streams, "Touch" took 380 days, whereas "Gabriela" shortened that record by 237 days. This indicates that KATSEYE's listener base is rapidly expanding.
KATSEYE's rising momentum was further confirmed when they were nominated for "Best New Artist" and "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" at the 68th Grammy Awards, announced by the Recording Academy on the 8th. Starting this November, KATSEYE will embark on their first solo North American tour, consisting of 16 performances across 13 cities including Minneapolis, Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Sugar Land, Irving, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
In April next year, they are also scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. KATSEYE's global activities are contributing to the further expansion of K-pop's worldwide popularity. With captivating music and unique performances, KATSEYE is broadening its fan base, and their future endeavors are highly anticipated.
