Actor Lee Yi-kyung has once again emphasized legal action against the spread of private life rumors. On the 19th, Lee Yi-kyung's agency, Sangyoung ENT, stated in their third official position, "We have previously informed that legal action has been taken against the author of the posts about Lee Yi-kyung on charges of intimidation and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act."
The agency explained, "After recognizing the incident on the 3rd and promptly submitting a complaint, the complainant's statement investigation has been completed. However, we understand that it will take some time to identify the accused and for the investigation by the authorities to conclude." They added, "We are checking the progress through our legal representatives and are cooperating as much as possible to ensure a swift outcome."
Earlier that morning, the whistleblower, Mr. A, posted on his social media that the claims he made were not manipulated by artificial intelligence (AI) and that all evidence is true, reversing his previous stance. Lee Yi-kyung's side emphasized regarding Mr. A, "Due to the malicious actions of the authors and distributors, the actor and the agency have suffered severe damage. Recognizing that such actions are punishable both domestically and internationally, we plan to respond firmly without leniency, even if it takes some time."
Lee Yi-kyung recently became embroiled in a private life controversy following Mr. A's revelations. On the 20th of last month, Mr. A spread claims on online communities and social media that Lee Yi-kyung exchanged obscene messages with a German woman named Ms. A. Mr. A continued the revelations by posting additional verification posts but suddenly issued an apology stating that all photos were AI-manipulated. However, he later reversed his position again, claiming "AI is a lie."
On the 19th, Mr. A posted on social media, "I apologize for causing confusion with my posts. Honestly, I was scared and said everything was a lie." He continued, "AI can never create celebrity photos, and I have never used it in that way," asserting, "All the evidence I posted is genuine." However, he added, "I do not want to escalate the story further," expressing concern about unrelated victims.
This controversy has also affected Lee Yi-kyung's broadcasting activities. His joining as an MC on KBS 2TV's "The Return of Superman" was canceled, and he stepped down from MBC TV's "Hangout with Yoo" after three years. However, both "Hangout with Yoo" and the agency explained it was due to his movie filming schedule. On the other hand, SBS Plus·ENA's "I am SOLO" and E Channel's "Brave Brothers," where he is currently appearing, stated there are no plans for him to leave.
Lee Yi-kyung's side immediately refuted Mr. A's claims, emphasizing, "They are not true." Mr. A soon apologized, saying the content was manipulated by AI but later reversed his statement again, claiming "AI is a lie." On the 4th, Mr. A wrote on social media, "I am considering revealing verification photos," adding, "It's not AI manipulation, I am wronged. I was made out to be a bad guy. I have never been sued."
Lee Yi-kyung's agency stated that due to Mr. A's repetitive and malicious actions, the actor and the company have suffered significant damage and "We believe such actions are punishable anywhere, domestically or internationally." The agency emphasized, "We will respond firmly without leniency until the end."
Lee Yi-kyung is currently preparing for the release of the film "Generational Regret" and is scheduled to film the Vietnamese movie "I Am Here" and the Japanese TBS Friday drama "Dream Stage." The private life controversy surrounding Lee Yi-kyung raises concerns about its potential impact on his future career.
