Actor Joo Sang-wook will appear in a drama opposing So Ji-sub. On November 20, Joo Sang-wook's agency HB Entertainment announced, "Joo Sang-wook will appear as Joo Kang-chan in SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Kim Bu-jang,' scheduled to air in 2026."
'Kim Bu-jang' is a drama about Kim Bu-jang, an ordinary family man and common citizen, who reveals his secrets and risks everything to find his beloved daughter. Joo Sang-wook will play Joo Kang-chan, the cold and charismatic CEO of Joo Hak Construction. Joo Kang-chan is a character who started as a hired thug and rose to become the head of a construction company, possessing a ruthless personality that solves problems with violence when money cannot.
Joo Kang-chan becomes hostile toward Kim Bu-jang (played by So Ji-sub) due to an incident involving their families. This is expected to heighten the tension of the drama. Joo Sang-wook has been recognized for his acting skills by steadily portraying intellectual and sophisticated characters in various works such as 'Bora! Deborah,' 'Alchemy of Souls,' and 'Taejong Yi Bang-won.'
In SBS's 'Treasure Island,' which ended last April, he played the mysterious character Yeo Soon-ho, leaving a strong impression as a key figure who unravels important clues despite his brief appearance. In 'Kim Bu-jang,' he will transform into a completely different, ruthless villain, delivering a fresh shock. Expectations for Joo Sang-wook's acting transformation are rising.
'Kim Bu-jang' is set to premiere in 2026, with the script written by Nam Dae-jung and directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun. The drama is produced by Studio S and Fantagio. 'Kim Bu-jang,' confirmed to star Joo Sang-wook, is attracting much attention even before its broadcast. Joo Sang-wook is expected to showcase a new side of himself through this work.
