A man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, broke into the home of actress Nana (real name Im Jin-ah), a former member of the idol group After School, in Guri City, Gyeonggi Province, and committed a robbery. The Guri Police Station has arrested Mr. A on charges of special robbery and injury and plans to send him to the prosecution on the 24th.

There was controversy over the legal nature of the injuries sustained during the process in which Nana and her mother subdued Mr. A. According to the police, Mr. A entered the residence armed with a weapon, threatened Nana and her mother, and demanded valuables. Nana and her mother engaged in a physical struggle to stop Mr. A's attack, during which Mr. A suffered a laceration on his jaw.

Based on statements from the victims and the suspect, the police investigated whether Mr. A's injuries constituted self-defense. According to Article 21, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Act, an act to defend oneself or another's legal rights against a "current unlawful infringement" is recognized as self-defense if there is a "reasonable cause." A police official stated, "There was a substantial infringement on the victims, and it was found that they did not inflict serious injury on the suspect during the defense process. After comprehensive consideration, it was determined that the victims' actions constituted self-defense, so no charges were filed."

Two days after his arrest, on the 18th, Mr. A filed a detention review, claiming that the police did not inform him of his Miranda rights during the arrest process, but the court dismissed the request. As a result, Mr. A's detention period was extended, and the police plan to send him to prosecution in custody on the 24th.

At around 6 a.m. on the 15th, Mr. A broke into Nana's home in Acheon-dong, Guri City, armed with a weapon. Using a prepared ladder, he climbed up to the veranda, opened an unlocked door, and entered. Upon finding Nana's mother, he assaulted her by choking her neck. When Nana's mother screamed, Nana woke up and intervened to stop him. The mother and daughter grabbed Mr. A's arm to subdue him and then called the police.

Nana's agency stated that her mother was injured during the subduing process and received medical treatment, and Nana also sustained injuries and received treatment. The police revealed that Mr. A is unemployed and that this incident was not a crime targeting a specific celebrity. The victims testified that they had no prior acquaintance with Mr. A.

This incident has drawn social attention regarding the safety of celebrities' residences. The police plan to establish additional measures for crime prevention.
