
Virtual idol group PLAVE has stepped forward to donate for the recovery from the high-rise apartment fire disaster in Hong Kong. On the 28th, PLAVE stated through their official Weibo, "We at PLAVE are deeply saddened to hear about the disaster in Hong Kong, China." They continued, "We extend our sincere condolences to all the victims and express our deep respect to those who risked their lives and dedicated themselves to the rescue efforts."
PLAVE expressed concern for their fans in Hong Kong, saying, "Our hearts are heavy knowing that many people are suffering greatly due to this sudden tragedy." They decided to donate 250,000 Hong Kong dollars, approximately 47 million Korean won, to the Hong Kong Red Cross. The fire occurred on the afternoon of the 26th at the high-rise apartment 'Wong Pok Court' in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong. The fire spread to 7 out of 8 buildings and was completely extinguished on the morning of the 28th after 43 hours. According to Hong Kong authorities, at least 94 people died and 76 were injured in the fire. Among the injured were 11 firefighters involved in the fire suppression.
This fire is expected to be recorded as the worst disaster in 77 years since the 1948 Hong Kong warehouse fire, which claimed 176 lives. Authorities are currently conducting an accurate count of the approximately 200 missing persons.
