
The '2025 MAMA AWARDS' (2025 MAMA AWARDS, hereinafter 'MAMA'), held in Hong Kong, took place in a solemn atmosphere. At the event held on the 28th at Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium, presenters and awardees wore dark clothing to express their condolences for the fire disaster.
Actor Park Bo-gum, the host of the event, took the stage to convey deep condolences for the Hong Kong fire disaster that occurred on the 26th. Park Bo-gum said, "'MAMA' is greeting Hong Kong again after seven years. Many people must have been looking forward to today." He continued, "There was a very tragic accident. I deeply express my condolences to all those who lost precious lives and beloved families in this accident," and held a moment of silence.
Park Bo-gum said, "I believe in the power of music and want to offer comfort through the stage and give strength to move forward, even if just a little." He also added, "'MAMA' will contribute through donations to support the victims."
The grand prize of 'MAMA' went to BLACKPINK's Rosé and ENHYPEN. Rosé did not attend the ceremony but shared her acceptance speech via video. She said, "I received a really big award. Thank you to all the fans who have given me so much love throughout this year." Rosé also expressed gratitude to Bruno Mars, who sang 'Apartment' with her.
ENHYPEN won the Fans' Choice of the Year award. Member Jungwon shed tears of emotion while shouting the fandom name 'ENGENE' during his acceptance speech. He said, "Thank you so much. I cannot express it in words," and added, "I will show a great image to make you proud of the name ENGENE."
For the Song of the Year category, the nominees were BLACKPINK's Jennie with 'Jennie,' aespa's 'Whiplash,' G-Dragon's 'Too Bad,' Huntrix's 'Golden,' and Rosé-Bruno Mars' 'Apartment,' with Rosé winning the award.
Due to the Hong Kong fire disaster, the red carpet event of the 'MAMA AWARDS' was canceled. Chinese-speaking stars Yang Ziqing and Chow Yun-fat, who were scheduled as global presenters, decided not to attend.
The fire occurred at 'Wong Fuk Court,' a high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po district of northern Hong Kong. According to foreign media, the death toll reached 128, with 79 injured.
CJ ENM stated, "'MAMA' aims to add the message 'Support Hong Kong,' providing a time to share grief together and contribute through donations to support the victims," expressing their determination to hold the event.
At the event, artists delivered their acceptance speeches in a calm manner, conveying condolences. Ahn Yujin of the group IVE said, "I want to express deep condolences and comfort regarding the recent tragic accident in Hong Kong."
Miyaw presented the stages for 'Hands Up' and 'Burning Up,' wearing dark-colored outfits and omitting fireworks or pyrotechnics in consideration of the mourning atmosphere.
This year's '2025 MAMA AWARDS' embraced various regions and cultures with the theme of 'accepting yourself as you are and living true to yourself.'
