Support from domestic stars continues for the large-scale fire disaster that occurred in a high-rise apartment complex in Hong Kong. On the 29th, Galaxy Corporation, the agency of G-Dragon, announced that he decided to donate 1 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 188.74 million KRW) to the "Hong Kong Tai Po Wong Fuk Court Support Fund" for the citizens affected by the Hong Kong apartment fire. This fund was established by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for disaster relief, and G-Dragon expressed his hope that the donation will be used to support firefighters and volunteers working on rescue and recovery efforts.
The Juspis Foundation, where G-Dragon serves as honorary chairman, plans to collaborate with local organizations in Hong Kong to provide psychological support for firefighters and disaster rescuers. Earlier, the groups Super Junior and iKON also participated in the support by donating 1 million Hong Kong dollars and 1 million yuan (approximately 200 million KRW), respectively. IVE, BoyNextDoor, EXO ChenBaekXi, and TO1 each donated 500,000 Hong Kong dollars. Actress Hyeri, formerly of Girls' Day, and singer-actor Im Si-wan each donated 200,000 Hong Kong dollars, while the group Kickflip donated 100,000 Hong Kong dollars.
In addition, major companies and agencies such as CJ Group, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and SM Entertainment have consecutively expressed their condolences and stepped up to provide support. The death toll from the Hong Kong apartment fire disaster has been confirmed at a minimum of 128, and Hong Kong authorities have declared an official mourning period. During the mourning period, government offices will fly the Chinese national flag and the Hong Kong flag at half-mast, and various commemorative events, including government-hosted performances, will be postponed or canceled. This disaster is recorded as the deadliest since the warehouse fire in 1948, which claimed 176 lives.
The cumulative donation amount from K-pop agencies and artists has reached 6 billion KRW. On the 28th, the combined donations from major domestic agencies and K-pop groups, including CJ Group, HYBE Music Group, SM, YG, and JYP Entertainment, amounted to approximately 31.73 million Hong Kong dollars. On the 26th at 2:52 PM (local time), a large fire broke out in the residential high-rise apartment complex "Wong Fuk Court" in the Tai Po area of northern Hong Kong, and according to authorities, the death toll from this fire is approaching 100.
CJ Group decided to donate 20 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 3.7814 billion KRW) to the Tai Po Wong Fuk Court Support Fund during the "2025 MAMA Awards." CJ ENM stated, "We extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to all those affected by the fire. We hope this donation will support rescue activities and follow-up assistance, and we pray that the affected area regains stability and peace as soon as possible."
CJ ENM will hold the "2025 MAMA Awards" at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on the 28th and 29th. Although there were concerns about postponement or cancellation due to the large fire disaster, they decided to proceed with the event. CJ ENM announced plans to add the message "Support Hong Kong," expressing their intention to share grief and contribute through donations to support the victims.
This awards ceremony is being carefully prepared to convey comfort and hope through performances, believing in the healing and solidarity power of music rather than flashy productions. The pre-event red carpet has been canceled, and a moment of remembrance will be held. Following CJ ENM's announcement, a series of donations from participating artists has continued, with various artists such as aespa, RISE, Stray Kids, and Kickflip joining the donation efforts.
