Boy group Stray Kids has reached number one on the Billboard 200, the main album chart in the United States, with their new album DO IT. On the 30th (local time), Billboard announced that they had taken the top spot on the latest chart. DO IT surpassed pop star Taylor Swift's The Life Of A Showgirl, which had held number one for seven consecutive weeks.
With this achievement, Stray Kids set a record by having eight consecutive albums debut on the Billboard 200. Since their first number one with ODDINARY in 2022, they have consecutively topped the chart with albums such as MAXIDENT, 5-STAR, 樂-STAR, ATE, 合·HOP, and KARMA.
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. each week based on physical album sales, streaming performance, and digital song download sales. In September, Stray Kids became the first group in the chart's 69-year history to debut at number one with their fourth full-length album KARMA. They have since achieved seven consecutive number one albums.
By increasing their consecutive number one entries to eight with DO IT, Stray Kids has become the group with the most number one albums on the Billboard 200 since the 2000s. Since their debut in 2018, they have established themselves as a leading K-pop idol group through self-produced music and performances.
This year, Stray Kids successfully completed their largest world tour, domiATE, with 56 shows across 35 regions worldwide. In October, they held an encore concert for the tour at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, marking their first domestic stadium performance in seven years since debut.
DO IT is an album released as part of the new series SKZ IT TAPE. It consists of five tracks including the double title tracks "DO IT" and "Fresh Fun," as well as "Holiday," "Photobook," and the "DO IT" festival version. The entire album was created by the team's producing unit 3RACHA members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han.
Bang Chan described DO IT as "an album to showcase the diversity and new challenges of Stray Kids' music." He added, "Some songs were worked on a long time ago, and others were created during the world tour. We tried to include genres and messages in each track that we can newly present."
Stray Kids' album release and chart success are seen as further proof of K-pop's global influence. They plan to continue musical experimentation and growth while communicating with their fans.
