Singer Nam Tae-hyun is being prosecuted for drunk driving. According to the legal community on the 1st, Judge Heo Jun-seo of the Criminal Division 11 at the Seoul Western District Court will hold Nam Tae-hyun's first trial session on the 11th. Nam Tae-hyun is accused of causing an accident while driving under the influence near Dongjak Bridge on Gangbyeonbuk-ro, heading toward Ilsan, at around 4:10 a.m. on April 27. He collided with the central divider while attempting to overtake the car in front. At the time of the accident, Nam Tae-hyun's blood alcohol concentration was confirmed to be above 0.08%, the level for license cancellation. It was reported that there were no casualties from the accident.

Nam Tae-hyun was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year probation last January for violating the Narcotics Control Act. He was prosecuted for using methamphetamine with broadcaster Seo Min-jae in 2022. This drunk driving incident is Nam Tae-hyun's second, as he received a summary order to pay a fine of 6 million won for a drunk driving accident during a drug investigation in March 2023.

After Nam Tae-hyun's drunk driving incident, the police applied for an arrest warrant considering that he drove under the influence during his probation period, but the court dismissed the warrant at the detention hearing, judging that there was insufficient reason for detention.

In October 2023, Nam Tae-hyun attracted attention by appearing as a witness before the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, revealing details about his drug rehabilitation process. In April, he announced his return on his social media, stating, "Although many things have happened, I am trying to return to my place as an artist who loves music."

He planned to make a comeback with a performance at the music festival "K-pop Week in Hongdae," scheduled for May 6 in Hongdae, but the event organizer announced the cancellation of the concert two days prior. Concerns are growing about his future as an entertainer due to the drunk driving incident and drug use controversy.
