
Disney animation 'Zootopia 2' has started its box office success by surpassing 2 million viewers within just five days of its release. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on the 1st, 'Zootopia 2' recorded a cumulative audience of 2,106,912 as of November 30. This matches the fastest pace to reach 2 million viewers this year, tying with the top-grossing film 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train.'
Since its release on November 26, 'Zootopia 2' attracted 1,623,895 viewers during its first weekend, securing the number one spot at the weekend box office. This is the highest opening weekend score for a 2025 release, surpassing both 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train' and 'Zombie Daughter.'
'Zootopia 2' is a family-friendly film rated for all ages, telling the story of protagonists Judy and Nick investigating a dangerous case involving a mysterious snake named Gary. Directed by Byron Howard, with a screenplay co-written by Jared Bush, the film features the return of Jennifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, who reprise their roles as the voices of the original characters.
The success of 'Zootopia 2' is generating even more anticipation ahead of the year-end holidays and Christmas. Targeting family audiences, this animation is likely to continue its box office momentum through word of mouth.
In second place is the musical film 'Wicked: For Good,' which attracted 133,364 viewers during the same period, with a cumulative audience of 781,950. Third place goes to 'Now You See Me 3,' which drew 122,172 viewers, bringing its total audience to 1,252,121.
'Zootopia 2' is the sequel to the 2016 release 'Zootopia,' which attracted 4.71 million viewers at the time. Returning after nine years, this sequel is expected to lead the year-end box office.
In fourth place is 'Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc,' with 41,267 viewers and a cumulative audience of 3,349,702. Fifth place is 'National Treasure,' which attracted 27,436 viewers, with a total audience of 114,329.
The successful opening of 'Zootopia 2' is raising interest in the possibility of the first 10 million viewer film of 2025. Cinema industry insiders predict that 'Zootopia 2' will attract even more viewers through the year-end surge.
