Hwasa has been selected as the first No. 1 artist on the Billboard Korea Hot 100 chart. On December 3, Billboard Korea launched two new official charts in collaboration with the U.S. Billboard to simultaneously track the domestic and international popularity of K-pop. Hwasa claimed the historic first top spot on this chart with her new song "Good Goodbye."
The newly introduced charts consist of the Billboard Korea Hot 100 and Billboard Korea Global K-Songs. These are the first charts under the Billboard brand to officially aggregate and rank global consumption of K-music, aiming to provide transparent and reliable standards for the K-pop industry.
Hwasa is breaking records not only in Korea but also in Western markets with "Good Goodbye." The song debuted at No. 43 on the Billboard Global 200 this week, solidifying her position as a solo artist with a Korean-language track even without promotion. "Good Goodbye" is Hwasa's biggest overseas chart hit since her solo debut in 2019.
The Billboard Korea Hot 100 tracks the most popular songs in Korea regardless of language and serves as a key indicator of domestic success. In contrast, the Billboard Korea Global K-Songs chart tracks the popularity of K-music consumed worldwide, including Korea. This is regarded as an important step in recognizing K-pop as a major international music genre.
By providing both domestic and global charts simultaneously, the new charts allow fans and industry insiders to compare and analyze artists' achievements from two important perspectives. Silvio Pietrolungo, Senior Vice President of Billboard Charts and Data Partnerships, stated, "Our goal is to create objective standards for the industry," adding, "The new music charts will serve as a 'common language' connecting artists, fan communities, and industry professionals."
On the afternoon of the 5th at 2 PM, Hwasa released three concept photos for "Hwasa 2026 Season's Greetings [Maria]" on her official SNS channels. In the released concept photos, Hwasa shows a striking contrast in black-and-white tones, creating a sophisticated yet chic atmosphere. Hwasa's unique aura, perfectly embodying various styles, raises expectations for this season's greeting.
Hwasa proved her presence as the "solo queen" by rewriting the reverse charting legend with her recently released single "Good Goodbye." The single achieved a "Perfect All-Kill (PAK)" by topping six major domestic online music charts. In the 48th week of 2025 on the Circle Chart, it also ranked No. 1 across various charts including digital, streaming, BGM, and ringtone, achieving six crowns.
"Good Goodbye" entered the U.S. Billboard chart Billboard Global 200 at No. 43 and ranked No. 2 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. It also topped iTunes song charts in four regions: Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Kyrgyzstan, while ranking No. 2 in Hong Kong and Indonesia, No. 3 in Thailand and Vietnam, No. 14 in France, and No. 27 in the U.S., proving its global popularity.
Hwasa attracted attention after her congratulatory stage with actor Park Jung-min at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards held at KBS Hall in Yeouido on November 19. This popularity led to a reverse charting surge. Hwasa became the first solo female artist this year to achieve a Perfect All-Kill (PAK) by topping six major domestic music sites including Melon, Genie, Bugs, YouTube Music, Flo, and Vibe. The music video surpassed 55 million views on YouTube.
Since signing an exclusive contract with P Nation, led by Psy, in June 2023, Hwasa has continued her unique path, showcasing a broad musical spectrum.
