PlayB enters Gocheok Dome... Virtual idol first to excite 18,000 spectators

PLAVE has achieved remarkable growth in the K-pop market over the past two years. As a virtual idol group, they surpassed 1 million copies in initial album sales within two years of their debut and dominated music charts, recording achievements comparable to traditional idol groups. PLAVE overcame various prejudices with their identity as a virtual idol based on 2D characters and established themselves as a top-tier K-pop boy group.

From November 21 to 22, PLAVE held the "2025 PLAVE Asia Tour DASH: Quantum Leap Encore" concert at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. This concert marked the finale of PLAVE's first Asia tour and took place at Gocheok Sky Dome, the largest venue in South Korea. PLAVE's solo concert at Gocheok Sky Dome was the first of its kind for a virtual idol group in the country.

Gocheok Sky Dome is a large venue that can accommodate about 18,000 spectators and is known as a "dream stage" where only artists with a strong fanbase in the domestic music market have performed. PLAVE's entry into Gocheok Sky Dome is regarded as an important milestone that further solidifies their position in the K-pop idol market.

When pre-sale tickets for this concert opened, they recorded a peak traffic of approximately 530,000 views, and all seats for the second round were sold out. In August, PLAVE also sold out all seats for three shows at their first solo concert in Seoul held at the Olympic Park KSPO DOME. The significant expansion in venue size and audience capacity within three months clearly demonstrates their growth momentum.

At the Gocheok Dome encore concert, PLAVE shared their thoughts, saying, "At our 100-day debut live, we wondered, 'Will we be able to perform at Gocheok Dome?' And now, we are here at Gocheok Dome." They expressed gratitude to their fans, saying, "Thanks to the love and support of PLEE (PLAVE's official fandom name), we were able to stand on the Gocheok Dome stage, which we never even imagined."

PLAVE's entry into Gocheok Dome became an opportunity for them to transcend their inherent limitations and firmly establish their presence as a top-tier boy group. Although they faced various prejudices as a virtual idol group based on 2D characters, they overcame these biases through tangible achievements and solidified their standing.

The key to PLAVE's success is "humanism." They utilize motion tracking and real-time rendering technology that connects real humans and virtual members in real time, enabling two-way communication. This provides a distinct difference from existing virtual humans and contributes to forming a close relationship with fans.

Each member is connected to a real human and, like other idols, demonstrates synergy based on individuality and teamwork. PLAVE is a "self-producing idol" group, with all five main members participating in songwriting, composing, choreography, and producing to complete their albums. This has earned public recognition for their music, which carries PLAVE's unique color, and their well-made performances.

Currently, there are still views that it is difficult to see PLAVE on the same level as other boy groups due to their inherent uniqueness. However, they have moved beyond the limitations of being "virtual" and have passed the stage of proving their existence. Attention is now focused on what stages and music they will present to achieve even greater success in the future.
