On MBC variety show "I Live Alone," comedian Park Na-rae revealed her daily life with her pet dog, Bokdol. Bokdol is a Jindo dog that Park Na-rae's grandparents raised, and after her grandparents passed away, Park Na-rae welcomed Bokdol as part of her family. Through living with Bokdol, Park Na-rae has experienced many changes.
Every morning, Park Na-rae greets Bokdol. A dedicated space is prepared for Bokdol, equipped with a food bowl, water bowl, potty pads, and toys. Park Na-rae opens the door to let Bokdol freely run around the yard, but the second floor is set as a restricted area where Bokdol is not allowed. Although Bokdol shows curiosity about the second floor and tries to follow Park Na-rae, he immediately turns back at her stern scolding.
As a novice pet owner, Park Na-rae struggles to dress Bokdol. The process of putting on a kimchi-making vest prepared for Bokdol was shown on the broadcast, revealing moments of mutual embarrassment. Park Na-rae hugged Bokdol and cried for an hour, while fellow pet owners comforted her by saying that no one can be perfect from the start.
Park Na-rae and Bokdol are receiving home training and practicing walks together. The training expert emphasized the importance of recall training and explained that the owner must control the timing of treats. Park Na-rae took Bokdol for walks, showing how he adapts to the busy environment of Seoul. Although Bokdol had difficulty climbing stairs, he is gaining confidence with the help of treats.
Walking is a very important activity for dogs, and Bokdol is sensitive to sounds and movements, which can lead to risky behavior like darting into the road. To reduce Bokdol's fears, Park Na-rae is conducting basic training such as desensitization and counter-conditioning. Bokdol is building positive experiences through walks, and Park Na-rae shares their daily life on social media.
Park Na-rae's life with her pet receives much support from many people, and perceptions of Jindo dogs are positively changing through her life with Bokdol. Park Na-rae is making efforts to love and understand Bokdol, and this attitude moves many pet owners. Although Park Na-rae and Bokdol's daily life involves trial and error, it is expected that through this process, they will become a stable family for each other.
