Park Narae to leave 'I Live Alone'... Suspends activities amid manager abuse allegations

Broadcaster Park Na-rae has announced a suspension of activities amid allegations of manager abuse and illegal medical procedures. Consequently, she will also halt her appearances on MBC's variety show "I Live Alone." On the 8th, the production team of "I Live Alone" issued an official statement apologizing for the delayed response, saying, "We aimed to focus on fairness in judging the recent claims related to Park Na-rae." They added, "We have not taken this matter lightly and have been carefully conducting internal discussions, including fact verification. Considering the seriousness of the issue and Park Na-rae's intention to suspend activities, we have decided to suspend her appearances."

Park Na-rae's former managers filed a provisional seizure of real estate application at the Seoul Western District Court on the 3rd, suing her on charges of special injury and embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. They claimed that Park Na-rae engaged in workplace harassment, proxy prescriptions, and non-payment of production fees, and announced plans to file a damages lawsuit worth approximately 100 million won. Additionally, reports emerged that Park Na-rae received illegal medical procedures from a person known as the "injection aunt."

On the 8th, Park Na-rae posted on Instagram, "In early November, two managers who were like family suddenly resigned, and until recently, I was not given the opportunity to talk with them, which led to misunderstandings between us." She added, "I believe everything is my fault and I am deeply reflecting on it." She stated, "Thinking that I can no longer cause trouble for the program and my colleagues, I have decided to suspend my broadcasting activities until everything is resolved cleanly." However, she did not specifically address the allegations of illegal medical procedures.

On the 6th, Park Na-rae's side explained, "She received vitamin injections from a licensed doctor," and "There has been no recent contact." Regarding this, Park Na-rae claimed, "The so-called 'injection aunt' is a medical professional with a doctor's license, and I received a home visit due to a busy schedule."

Park Na-rae has denied the former managers' claims and announced plans for legal action. On the 7th, a representative stated, "We are currently preparing an additional statement regarding the former managers' claims," and "We are preparing to release it by tomorrow." They also said, "The filming schedule for MBC's 'I Live Alone' on the 8th is currently planned to proceed as scheduled without changes."

Park Na-rae's side revealed that they have detected signs of embezzlement of corporate funds by the former managers and are investigating. They plan to file a complaint for embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes once the investigation results are compiled. Park Na-rae expressed her intention to participate normally in the programs she is appearing on to avoid causing harm to fellow cast members and production staff.

Currently, Park Na-rae appears unedited on MBC's "Save Me! Holmes," "I Live Alone," and tvN's "Amazing Saturday," and is also scheduled to appear on MBC's new variety show "I'm Excited." However, on the 8th, a VCR studio recording for "I Live Alone" is scheduled, drawing attention to whether Park Na-rae will appear in person and the content of any additional statements.

Public opinion is divided over Park Na-rae's decision to continue activities. Some netizens criticize, saying, "With allegations this serious, continuing activities is disrespectful to viewers." Conversely, others defend her, stating, "If she were not confident, would she continue public activities like this?"

Whether Park Na-rae's choice will be seen as a "responsible direct confrontation" or a "reckless move amid controversy" depends on future legal judgments and public opinion trends.
