Singer Younha donated 100 million won to the Korea Student Aid Foundation to foster talent in the field of basic science. On the 9th, Younha attended the donation ceremony for the "2025 Blue Lighthouse Singer Younha Donation Scholarship" held at the Korea Student Aid Foundation Seoul Office in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The Korea Student Aid Foundation is a quasi-governmental organization under the Ministry of Education that promotes student loan support projects to provide opportunities for higher education based on will and ability regardless of economic conditions. Younha will collaborate with the Korea Student Aid Foundation to establish the "Blue Lighthouse Singer Younha Donation Scholarship" starting in 2026. This scholarship is not a one-time support but a continuous project providing about 100 million won annually to low-income university students majoring in physics and astronomy, which are basic science fields.
The 100 million won donated by Younha will be used from 2026 to select 20 outstanding university students majoring in physics and astronomy each semester and provide a scholarship of 2.5 million won per person. Younha has consistently shown interest in space and science through representative songs themed around astronomy such as "Event Horizon," "Oort Cloud," "Comet," "Black hole," and "Shooting Star." This donation is an example of Younha practicing positive influence by expanding her interest in science into sharing.
At the donation ceremony, Younha said, "I wanted to share the love I received from my fans with future scientists. Through steady support every year, I hope students studying physics and astronomy can focus on their studies without financial worries and grow into talents that shine brightly like stars in the night sky."
Ko Young-jong, Standing Director of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, said, "We will do our best to support so that Younha's precious donation becomes a solid 'event horizon' for university students majoring in basic science and a stepping stone toward their dreams."
Meanwhile, Younha will hold a small theater concert titled "Shining Winter" for a total of 12 days on January 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, and February 1, 2026, at Samsung Hall, Ewha Womans University, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. All performances were sold out.
