Thunder, formerly of the group MBLAQ, announced a new musical beginning just one year after his marriage. Recently, he shared a lengthy post on his SNS stating, "Although it's late, today I announce my new start." Since debuting with MBLAQ in 2009, Thunder has continued to take on various challenges including group activities, solo work, and acting. He reflected that he has now entered his 16th year since debut.
Thunder emphasized, "While many people choose their own paths, I stayed here because I love music," adding, "Not even for a moment have I ever left music." He candidly spoke about his identity during his idol days, saying, "I think the 'me' within the name idol was 'not really me,' so I spent a long time contemplating and rediscovering myself to shed that image." He explained that he valued the journey of finding himself more than success or numbers.
In June of this year, Thunder established the hip-hop label 'MOOVE LABEL,' which fully reflects his thoughts and direction. He said, "On the culture of hip-hop, I now want to hustle properly with my true music, not a fabricated image," and asked fans to watch his future steps.
Before debuting, Thunder was known as the younger brother of 2NE1's Sandara Park, and he officially debuted in the music industry as a member of MBLAQ in 2009. After leaving the group in 2014, he continued his music career as a solo artist. Last May, he made headlines by marrying actress Jung Mimi, formerly of Gugudan, after four years of dating.
Jung Mimi showed her support for Thunder's new beginning by leaving a comment saying, "Thunder fighting! MOOVE LABEL fighting!" Fans who saw this responded positively to her support, leaving comments such as "Looks like he married well" and "Mimi is truly the queen of support."
Since his debut, Thunder gained popularity with numerous hit songs including "This is War," "Mona Lisa," and "Smoky Girl." He also made his mark as an actor, appearing in dramas such as "Padam Padam" in 2011, MBC QueeN's "Nail Shop Paris," and MBC's "Make a Woman Cry." In 2012, he launched his solo career with the album "Don't Go," and has consistently released his own music up to the present.
In 2022, Thunder showcased new potential as a rapper through Mnet's "Show Me the Money 11." He is also widely known as the younger brother of 2NE1's Sandara Park.
Jung Mimi debuted with Gugudan in 2016 and transitioned to acting after the group disbanded. She has expanded her acting range through various works including KBS's "Producer," "Man Who Lives in Our House," MBC's "20th Century Boy and Girl," and "Extraordinary You." Currently, Mimi regularly shares affectionate moments with her husband Thunder on her account, communicating with fans.
One year after his marriage, Thunder has taken on a new challenge by establishing a hip-hop label. Many are paying close attention to his next steps as he moves beyond "Idol Thunder" to write his own story as an artist.
