BTS 'Permission to Dance' surpasses 700 million views... marks 10th major milestone

The music video for the group BTS's "Permission to Dance" has surpassed 700 million views on YouTube. Big Hit Music announced on the 11th that the "Permission to Dance" music video, which BTS simultaneously released worldwide in July 2021, exceeded 700 million views at 5:15 p.m. on the 10th. With this, BTS now has a total of 10 music videos with over 700 million views.

"Permission to Dance" is a dance-pop genre song released during the COVID-19 pandemic. The song carries the message that "you can dance freely without permission whenever your heart desires." The music video emphasizes the bright and lively appearances of BTS members, and in the latter part, the members perform choreography using international sign language together with the crowd. This scene plays an important role in conveying a message of hope.

BTS performed "Permission to Dance" at the 76th United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 2021. The performance started in the conference hall and moved through the General Assembly lobby, the entrance of the building, and the lawn plaza in sequence. Through this performance, BTS delivered positive energy to the world and attracted significant attention.

Upon its release, "Permission to Dance" debuted at number one on the US Billboard main song chart, the "Hot 100." The song remained on the chart for seven consecutive weeks, gaining popularity. Additionally, it received "Gold" certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 500,000 units. RIAA's unit count is based on album sales, digital downloads, and streaming weights.

On June 6, 2025, BTS received the "AAA 10 Legendary" group award at the "10th Anniversary Asia Artist Awards 2025" held at Kaohsiung National Stadium. They celebrated their 12th debut anniversary this year and are preparing for a full-group comeback next spring. BTS's continued popularity and presence are raising expectations for new releases and a new world tour.

BTS's "Permission to Dance" music video is an example of combining their musical achievements with social messages, positively impacting fans and the public. The song provides comfort and hope to people going through difficult times and reaffirmed BTS's global influence once again.
