"Gag Concert" returns to prime time after 6 months... Special guests Youngtak and Kim Byung-man appear

KBS 2TV's 'Gag Concert' returns on the 14th at 9:20 PM with a special 'Homecoming' episode. This broadcast marks the show's return to the 9 PM time slot after six months, raising viewers' expectations.

Singer Youngtak will appear in the special broadcast. Youngtak will feature in the popular segment 'Defconn Some How' playing the role of Jo Su-yeon's neighborhood friendly older brother. He will speak in the Gyeongsang-do dialect and is expected to break the boundaries between singer and actor with a passionate performance. Youngtak is likely to generate laughter by promoting his own songs.

'Master' Kim Byung-man will also take the stage after a long time. Kim Byung-man will join the longest-running segment of 'Gag Concert,' 'Master,' which has been airing since 2007, alongside new host Jung Seung-hwan. Song Young-gil will appear as Kim Byung-man's new apprentice and is scheduled to appear twice during the broadcast. Attention is focused on what kind of new master Kim Byung-man will return as. Additionally, the appearance of a special guest who will challenge the 'Master' segment is also anticipated, sparking curiosity.

Byun Ki-soo will return as 'Teacher Byun' after 18 years. Byun Ki-soo is set to dominate the stage with his rapid-fire comedy. Original members Kim Ki-yeol, Song Byung-chul, Lee Jong-hoon, and Park Joon-hyung will also appear together to bring new laughter to viewers.

'Gag Concert' will air on the 14th, 21st, and 28th over three weeks on Sundays at 9:20 PM. From January 4, 2026, scheduling will be adjusted again due to the new KBS 2TV weekend mini-series 'Dear Thief.' 'Gag Concert' is returning after six months, having given up its Sunday 9 PM slot last June to 'Crazy Rich Korean.'

This year, 'Gag Concert' has undergone several scheduling changes. Initially scheduled for 10:25 PM, the time gradually shifted later, causing confusion among viewers. Some viewers even requested scheduling adjustments through petitions. 'Gag Concert' has established itself as a comedy program for the whole family and strategically benefits from being scheduled during the Sunday 9 PM prime time slot.

KBS scheduled weekend mini-series this year, but ratings continued to decline. 'Twelve' recorded an 8.1% rating for its first episode but then dropped, and 'Last Summer' ended with a 1.7% rating in its final episode. This was the lowest rating among KBS's weekend mini-series this year.

'Gag Concert' maintains ratings in the 1-2% range, but the episode aired on the 7th recorded a 2.0% rating, higher than 'Last Summer's' 1.7%. 'Gag Concert' continues to attract attention through its YouTube channel, and the performances of rookie comedians are also gaining notice. Interest, which was previously focused on specific comedians, is now evenly distributed among newcomers.

This 'Homecoming' special broadcast is expected to evoke nostalgia among viewers and provide an opportunity to relive past glories. 'Gag Concert' has previously maintained ratings in the 3% range, and the scheduling adjustments may inject new vitality into the show.
