Actor Koo Kyo-hwan revealed the secret to his 12-year relationship with director Lee Ok-seop. On the 14th, Koo appeared on the YouTube channel 'Yojung Jaehyung' and talked about his relationship with director Lee. During the broadcast, Jaehyung asked Koo, "Is there anything difficult about working with your partner?" Koo explained their communication style, saying, "I think there is always a reason when someone speaks strongly. At those times, I reflect once more."
Koo described director Lee as "one of the people who captures me in an interesting way." He said, "When that friend looks at me in a new light, I feel a new stimulus." He added, "We may like different things, but we share the same points of frustration," emphasizing their emotional empathy. Jaehyung agreed, saying, "That is truly important."
Koo said, "It feels like we share stress together," and added, "I think our equal partnership, rather than competition or dominance, has sustained our relationship for a long time." The two also appeared together publicly in July on the 100th special episode of the YouTube channel 'Salon Drip.' At that time, Koo jokingly expressed jealousy about the relationship between director Lee and MC Jang Do-yeon, saying, "The two of them meet up suddenly. Even when I'm with him alone, he says, 'I'm going to meet a friend.' I felt a bit jealous."
Koo and director Lee co-directed the film 'Your Country' (working title), which wrapped filming earlier this year. Koo is expected to be active as both director and actor. The project has attracted attention as they are working together with their close friend Jang Do-yeon.
Since his debut in 2008, Koo Kyo-hwan has been active and well-loved through films such as 'Jane of Dreams,' 'The Catfish,' 'Mogadishu,' and dramas like 'Peninsula' and 'D.P.' He is set to meet audiences with the upcoming film 'If We' scheduled for release on the 31st. Koo expressed trust in his relationship with director Lee, stating that their communication style of respecting each other's opinions has made their relationship stronger.
