
Trot singer Lim Young-woong's fan club, 'Hero Era Daegu Starlight Study Room,' donated 7 million won in scholarships for children of brain-dead organ donors. The Korea Organ Donation Movement Headquarters announced this on the 16th. This donation aims to support children who lost their parents due to brain-dead organ donation so they can continue their studies and career paths without financial constraints.
'Hero Era Daegu Starlight Study Room' is a fan group with about 100 members that supports Lim Young-woong's musical journey and has continuously practiced life-sharing and donation activities. Every year at the end of the year, they have supported children of brain-dead organ donors, demonstrating a mature fandom culture.
One member said, "We must remember the noble value left by brain-dead organ donation and society should protect the dreams of the remaining children together. Like Lim Young-woong's music, we support them to grow confidently without losing hope."
The donated funds are provided as scholarships through the D.F Scholarship Foundation under the Korea Organ Donation Movement Headquarters. The D.F Scholarship Foundation was established in 2020, focusing on the fact that a high proportion of brain-dead organ donors are in their 40s and 50s, which increases the likelihood of financial difficulties for their children who are studying. So far, through six scholarship award ceremonies, a total of 114.26 million won has been provided to 72 children.
Cheon Se-gyun, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Organ Donation Movement Headquarters, said, "We deeply thank the fandom for supporting the future of the children for three consecutive years with unwavering hearts. We hope this sharing will serve as an opportunity to broaden social awareness of organ donation."
