The group Stray Kids appeared on the 'SBS 8 News' broadcast on the 21st. In the interview, they shared their thoughts on the record of achieving eight consecutive No. 1 entries on the Billboard 200. The interview was conducted with anchor Lee Hyun-young and covered the group's world tour achievements, musical characteristics, relationship with their global fandom STAY, and their New Year's wishes for 2026. Notably, Stray Kids performed a special stage in the news studio. This is the first interview featuring all members together since setting the record of eight consecutive No. 1s on the Billboard 200.
Bang Chan said about the eight consecutive No. 1 records on the Billboard 200 from 2022's 'ODDINARY' to 'DO IT,' "It still feels like a dream," adding, "This record was possible thanks to the members and STAY." He cited the passion of preparing albums with the mindset of "taking responsibility for our music" as the driving force behind the group's self-breaking record.
Lee Know introduced the pure gold plaque given by producer Park Jin-young to commemorate the seventh consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last August and expressed anticipation for the ceremony celebrating the eighth consecutive No. 1. I.N mentioned that through the 'dominATE' tour, they performed 56 shows in 35 cities and noted that since 2019, they have held 108 performances in 45 cities cumulatively. He emphasized that the record for the highest K-pop achievement on the Billboard tour chart was thanks to the fans, STAY.
Felix expressed that meeting with Korean fans during the preparation of the new album was precious. Seungmin described STAY as a "compass" that guides Stray Kids' direction and said they always try to approach everything sincerely.
Hyunjin and Changbin mentioned the self-producing team 3RACHA as Stray Kids' competitive edge. Hyunjin said, "Because we create the albums and songs ourselves, we were able to include more honest stories in the music." Changbin explained, "Even within the same genre, our goal is to incorporate Stray Kids' unique color," adding that he connects inspirations from daily life to song production.
Han defined Stray Kids' music in one word as "Strange (strange + ideal)," saying, "It may feel unfamiliar at first, but if you listen deeply, it contains relatable stories and ideal dreams." The members unanimously agreed that Korean elements revealed in works like 'Sori Kkun' and 'Sinsalnoreum' are important characteristics of their music. Han emphasized the "wordplay" that blends Korean culture through visually traditional images, costumes inspired by hanbok, and set designs.
Hyunjin described the relationship among members as "a very lovely family and colleagues," saying that even when conflicts arise, they resolve them immediately. Felix shared that spending time traveling with members amid busy schedules is his way of resting and explained that this process also inspires his songwriting.
Changbin said that while compliments like "the music is good" are nice, he prefers hearing that their music is "different" and "new." He stated that he will continue his music activities with these keywords going forward. Bang Chan said that the most important goal for 2026 is "health," wishing for the health of the members, STAY, and everyone.
I.N expressed, "I hope 2026 will be a happier year for everyone," and added, "Stray Kids will also come back with more diverse appearances." Seungmin concluded the interview by saying, "I watched 'SBS 8 News' even before becoming a singer," and hoped that this appearance would be an opportunity for many people to recognize Stray Kids next year as well.
In addition to the aired interview segment, SBS plans to provide various content such as the full interview video and behind-the-scenes footage on its website and YouTube channel.
