Chef Lim Seong-geun has stated that he currently does not operate any restaurants. On December 26, Lim clearly said through his social media, "I do not currently run any restaurants myself." He emphasized, "The traditional Korean restaurant near Baegun Lake and the nationally certified galbi have nothing to do with me now."
Lim explained that he had filed a lawsuit against a restaurant that used his portrait rights without permission, and the lawsuit concluded last year. He warned, "Using someone else's face like that is illegal. It must never be done." Lim also mentioned his relationship with a galbi franchise. He said, "I was a model for about five years. The contract period ended, so now I have no connection with them."
He also explained his relationship with a chicken specialty restaurant in Sinchon. Lim said, "I transferred it in 2013," adding, "I received 20 million won for the facility costs and handed it over, but they kept using my name for promotion and even put up banners." He added, "After appearing on 'Black and White Chef,' they were promoting unauthorized advertisements on banner signs and Instagram."
Lim expressed concern that the use of his name could cause confusion. He urged, "I do not have any restaurants. Do not use my photos without permission. It hurts and can cause emotional pain to the person affected."
He also announced plans to open a new restaurant. Lim said, "I am building a building in Simhak Mountain, Paju. I think I will greet you with a new menu around February or March. I will send invitations," adding, "I will show you 50,000 kinds of dishes then."
