TWS, 'Angtal Challenge' craze at the Broadcast Entertainment Awards celebration stage

TWS established themselves as a new icon at the year-end awards ceremony. On December 29, they reaffirmed their popular appeal with a celebratory performance at the 'MBC Entertainment Awards.' TWS is a group consisting of Shinyu, Dohun, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin. On that day, Dohun, who is active as the MC of 'Show! Music Core,' was nominated for the Best Male Newcomer award.

TWS showcased a 'powerful refreshing' performance through the stage of the title track "OVERDRIVE" from their 4th mini-album. In particular, the "Angtal Challenge" section of the chorus received a great response from the audience. Several entertainers in the audience enjoyed the performance by shaking their shoulders to the lyrics "Umm~," and the MCs reacted to the TWS members by saying, "They are the embodiment of freshness," and "Just looking at them made my heart pound."

The enthusiasm from this performance continued with a relay of the entertainers' "Angtal Challenge." Stars such as Koo Sung-hwan and Choi Hong-man were caught on camera, bringing laughter to viewers. Immediately after the broadcast, TWS topped Melon's popular search terms, proving their high level of buzz. TWS solidified their reputation as the "short-form powerhouse" with the "Angtal Challenge." As of the 29th, videos featuring "OVERDRIVE" on various short-form platforms surpassed 220,000 views, and the song ranked 1st and 2nd on Instagram and TikTok music charts, respectively.

TWS's popularity is the result of their musical direction aligning with public tastes. This year, they delicately explored the emotions of youth and expanded the spectrum of their unique genre, "Boyhood Pop." Their 3rd mini-album, "TRY WITH US," depicted the awkward passion of being twenty, gaining empathy from listeners. In the 4th mini-album, "play hard," they showed a facet of passionate youth, establishing themselves as a "youth icon."

TWS showcased the essence of "K-Refreshing" with their Japanese debut single "Nice to see you again (original title はじめまして / Hajimemashite)." They achieved success on the global stage and successfully settled into the Japanese music market. The Japanese debut single surpassed 250,000 cumulative shipments and received the Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan's Gold Disc. The members actively continued their activities by appearing on local year-end special broadcasts and being invited to major music festivals.

TWS will meet fans through the stages of KBS 2TV's "2025 Music Bank Global Festival IN JAPAN" on the 30th and "2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon" on the 31st. They plan to close the year while continuing communication with the public. TWS intends to meet public expectations through their future musical endeavors.
