KBS is presenting a special variety show for the Lunar New Year holiday. The program is titled "Seolbim - Woke Up in the Joseon Dynasty." This program is produced in collaboration with the global idol group Stray Kids. The planning intent is to spread Korea's soul and light to the world.
"Seolbim" centers on the story of Stray Kids time-slipping to the Joseon Dynasty by an unknown force. After suddenly falling into the past, the members take on various traditional culture missions to return to modern society. In the process, they will showcase performances befitting their reputation as "concept masters," providing K-culture content to viewers both domestically and internationally.
This program is receiving great attention as Stray Kids' first solo program on terrestrial broadcasting. Stray Kids recorded the highest first-week sales for a K-pop album in 2025 and achieved a historic feat by entering the US Billboard main chart "Billboard 200" with eight consecutive albums debuting at number one. They also proved their powerful influence by performing on major stadium stages worldwide through their largest world tour, "dominATE."
The program title "Seolbim" refers to the custom of wearing new clothes during the traditional Korean holiday, Seollal. Therefore, both the cast and the audience will participate wearing hanbok. Stray Kids will interpret hanbok in a unique concept with their own style.
Audience applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. on Friday the 2nd until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday the 7th through the official KBS website. This program is expected to showcase Stray Kids' new fashion that adds a modern sensibility to traditional culture.
The special MC lineup also draws attention. Lee Soo-geun and Jonathan will serve as MCs, enhancing the program's entertainment value. The two MCs plan to naturally communicate with Stray Kids and global fans, adding to the program's appeal.
"Seolbim - Woke Up in the Joseon Dynasty" is a special KBS Lunar New Year variety show, an important project that demonstrates the harmony between Korean traditional culture and modern idols. This program is expected to bring joy to viewers during the Lunar New Year holiday.
