When a song resonates not on a stage but in the middle of a street, emotions become all the more vivid. Taehyun of TOMORROW X TOGETHER delivered a performance on Change Street that lingered through sincerity rather than spectacle.
The third episode of ENA’s new music program Change Street, airing on the 3rd, revisits how music transcends borders and language against the symbolic backdrop of the 60th anniversary of Korea–Japan diplomatic normalization. At its heart are the streets themselves—and the voices that fill them.
Taehyun took to the night streets of the German Village, choosing Shin Seung-hun’s classic “I Believe.” Familiar yet newly breathed into, the song moved beyond nostalgia and into the present moment through Taehyun’s interpretation. His restrained delivery drew attention to each lyric, quietly enveloping the entire space.
What made the performance stand out was the busking format. Away from a polished concert hall, the flowing street scene allowed the music to merge naturally with everyday life. In that setting, Taehyun’s voice became a gentle force—pausing footsteps and settling into the rhythms of passing moments.
This episode intercuts performances by the Korean and Japanese teams, weaving different locations into a single emotional thread. The illuminated German Village and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul—seemingly contrasting spaces—connect through music, with Taehyun’s stage serving as an emotional anchor.
The meeting of “I Believe’s” lyricism with Taehyun’s tone explains why certain songs endure across time. For some, it was a memory rekindled; for others, a first encounter—rewritten as a story of the present through his voice.
Change Street is a program that invites audiences to listen first to voices and emotions before names. Without elaborate visuals, Taehyun’s performance left a profound resonance, quietly demonstrating how music connects people and places.
