Actress Lee Si-young looked back on the time surrounding the birth of her second child, candidly describing moments when both her body and mind were put to the test. She shared how she managed to endure a critical situation and what supported her through recovery afterward.

Recently appearing on YouTuber Noh Hong-chul’s channel, Lee revealed that she had recently given birth to her second child. Recalling the delivery, she said, “Once I entered the operating room, I learned that with general anesthesia you can’t even drink water or take medication. I underwent a cesarean section under lower-body anesthesia and remained conscious for two hours.”

The birth took place two weeks earlier than the expected due date. Lee explained, “The situation was urgent, so we had no choice but to proceed earlier.” After the surgery, she was informed by medical staff that the delivery had been far from routine. “I didn’t know beforehand, but afterward I was told there had even been a possibility of a hysterectomy,” she said, adding that doctors had withheld the information prior to surgery to avoid causing unnecessary anxiety.

Speaking about giving birth at the age of 44, Lee admitted, “It wasn’t an easy situation,” but emphasized that years of consistent exercise played a significant role in her recovery, both physically and mentally.

Rather than dramatizing her experience, Lee calmly shared the realities and responsibilities she faced after making her decision, drawing empathy from many.

Lee married a businessman nine years her senior in 2017 and has a son, but announced their divorce in March. She later revealed that she became pregnant with her second child through the implantation of frozen embryos without her ex-husband’s consent, drawing public attention. Having safely delivered her baby, attention is now turning to the next chapter of her life.
