Singer Lim Young-woong has set another milestone at the start of the new year. Surpassing 13.1 billion cumulative streams on Melon is more than a numerical achievement—it highlights how his music is consumed in Korea’s digital music market.
As of January 3, Lim Young-woong’s total streams on Melon exceeded 13.1 billion, reaching 13.10895 billion plays. This figure reflects long-term accumulation rather than a momentary surge in popularity.
The key to this record lies in sustainability rather than speed. Lim Young-woong was inducted into Melon’s “Gold Club” for artists with 5 to 10 billion streams in January 2023, and later surpassed 10 billion streams on June 18, 2024, earning a place in the “Diamond Club.” This stands as the highest achievement by a Korean solo artist, placing him alongside global group BTS.
His streaming pattern is not limited to comeback periods. Songs spanning ballads, trot, and OSTs continue to be played as part of listeners’ daily routines, creating a form of long-term, lifestyle-driven streaming. The 13.1 billion milestone underscores the durability of this listening trend.
Alongside his digital success, Lim Young-woong’s nationwide concert tour continues to draw strong crowds. He successfully concluded concerts in Daejeon from January 2 to 4, and will proceed with shows in Seoul from January 16 to 18 and in Busan from February 6 to 8.
