Actress Park Won-sook has candidly shared her ongoing battle with illness and the quiet challenges she has faced. Though her update after the end of her long-running show was calm, it revealed deep concerns about her health and stamina.
In a recent video uploaded to her YouTube channel, Park spoke about a solo trip to Jeju Island. While walking through Bijarim Forest, she recalled, “I love Jeju so much that I once thought about living here before moving to Namhae.” That plan, however, was ultimately halted by health issues.
She confessed, “During a time when I was overwhelmed with work, I collapsed in the dressing room. Even after receiving treatment at the hospital, I didn’t fully realize that I needed to rest.” Her words reflected regret over pushing herself too hard.
Park also explained that the burden of air travel led her to give up on Jeju. “The idea of having to take a flight worried me, so I chose Namhae instead,” she said, highlighting how health has become a key factor in even small decisions.
During her walk, she openly acknowledged her reduced physical strength. “These days, 1 kilometer feels like my limit. A round trip of 2 kilometers is manageable, but anything beyond that becomes painful,” she admitted.
Previously, Park announced the end of her long-running program Park Won-sook’s Living Together late last year. At the time, she cited declining health, saying, “My condition wasn’t good, and I felt like I couldn’t keep up anymore. I thought stepping back was the right choice.”
Park has also shared that she has suffered from Ménière’s disease since 1983, resulting in severe hearing loss in one ear. In the video, she emphasized her desire to live without overexertion and to move at her own pace.
Behind the spotlight lies a long journey of quiet endurance. Park Won-sook’s heartfelt confession serves as a reminder of the importance of rest and health.
