Actor Lim Hyun-sik, 81, has shared chilling accounts of moments when he narrowly escaped death, emphasizing the importance of health and safety. Appearing on a recent program, he spoke candidly about being rushed to the emergency room due to acute heart disease and pesticide inhalation.
“Rather than saying I survived death, it felt like I almost crossed over and came back,” Lim said. After finishing a shoot and heading home, he suddenly felt severe chest pain. Although he had experienced similar discomfort before, this time felt different. “I was alone at home, so I immediately went to the emergency room,” he explained. Doctors diagnosed him with acute myocardial infarction, and he underwent a heart stent procedure.
Another dangerous incident occurred during routine farm work. While spraying pesticides on apple trees, Lim inhaled chemicals and lost consciousness. “Even though I was wearing a mask, I suddenly became dizzy, my head felt heavy, and something felt off,” he recalled. Neighbors discovered him collapsed and called emergency services, saving his life. He later experienced hallucinations, underscoring the severity of the incident.
A medical specialist warned that inhaling pesticides during spraying or weeding can immediately irritate the lungs and airways, causing dizziness, breathing difficulties, and coughing, and may lead to acute poisoning.
