Singer Sean appeared on a marathon variety show alongside his 17-year-old third son, Hayul, sharing a glimpse into their father-son bond through running. Their candid exchange resonated with viewers.
On MBN’s Run to Live Season 2, participants gathered at Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul to take on a 10-kilometer paired run. Under the theme “Run Together, Run with Purpose,” Sean and Hayul lined up together at the starting line.
Noticing Hayul’s nervous expression, Sean joked, “He used to be the biggest smiler among my four kids, but he’s in his teenage years now.” He added proudly, “He’s been running seriously for about two years, and his 10K personal best is faster than mine.”
Asked whether he talks a lot with his father, Hayul replied, “We talk when we eat—otherwise, not much,” drawing laughter with the honesty of their relationship.
This challenge was less about records and more about the experience of running together. With few words but matching strides, the 10-kilometer run became a meaningful moment shared between father and son.
