BTS Jungkook revealed his changed attitude toward life and self-care routine after military service, expressing his aspirations as an artist. On the 3rd (local time), Jungkook spoke candidly about his inner self and future in an interview with Rolling Stone UK. Jungkook shared, "At 28, Jungkook looks back on his journey from the youngest member to a solo artist, sharing his self-care routine that keeps him healthy and explaining how the time away from music reignited his passion."
Jungkook is currently maintaining strict health management. He said, "I'm on a diet these days, so I eat only one meal a day," adding, "I really look forward to that one meal. I patiently wait, thinking, 'What should I eat today?' When I finally eat, I feel a sense of accomplishment." He keeps a regular routine, doing cardio exercises every morning and evening. Jungkook explained, "It's more important to consistently do small things than to make a big effort once," and added, "This routine changes the way I treat people and food. It gives me a sense of achievement and confidence for keeping my daily routine." He also revealed that he does not listen to music while exercising, saying, "I prefer to fully focus on myself."
When asked, "Do you feel closer to yourself these days?" Jungkook confessed, "Honestly, I don't think I'm that close to myself yet." He continued, "But hearing this question made me realize that I need to love and take care of myself more," and said, "Exercising and maintaining healthy habits are part of my routine for loving myself."
Jungkook admitted that his attitude toward life has changed significantly before and after military service. He said, "The depth of my thoughts has changed before and after military service. My attitude toward time has also changed," adding, "I try to avoid things harmful to my body. I used to drink alcohol, but now I try to refrain. I want to use my time more meaningfully and cherish it." He is also focusing on health management, sharing, "I pay more attention to my health before and after military service," and "I do a lot of physical activities like badminton, bowling, and jogging."
Regarding his solo debut song "Seven," Jungkook recalled, "It was the most important and special moment in my career." He said, "'Seven' allowed me to keep working until now," and added, "'Seven' made me want to start again." About the success of "Seven," he said, "I really loved it and performed with confidence, but I was surprised by how good the response was," and "That response gave me even more confidence." He honestly admitted that he still feels some regrets after releasing his solo album "GOLDEN." "After releasing the solo album 'GOLDEN,' there were parts of the songs and performances I wished I had done better," he said, "But those regrets motivate me to work harder and improve."
Jungkook expressed his excitement about preparing for BTS's comeback album. He said, "Right now, I am preparing the upcoming BTS comeback album with the members," and added, "I am really looking forward to the next full BTS comeback album, promotions with the members, and meeting ARMY again." Regarding his solo activities, he said, "I want to learn and develop more about dance, especially street dance."
Jungkook stated, "I have always pursued change," and expressed his ambition, "I want to be an artist who creates trends, not one who follows them. I don't want to be confined. I want to be an artist without limits." Overseas fans were deeply moved by Jungkook's honest interview. One fan responded, "It's amazing to see him talk so honestly about himself," and another praised, "He looks more mature and self-reflective after military service."
In December last year, Jungkook was selected as the first subject of a photo project jointly conducted by the Korean, UK, and Japanese editions of Rolling Stone, becoming the first Korean solo artist to grace the cover of Rolling Stone UK. The full interview is available on the Rolling Stone UK website, and the physical magazine sold out during the December pre-order, with offline sales starting from the 8th.
