Former basketball player Jeon Tae-poong opened up about his unwavering love for his wife even after 16 years of marriage. However, differences in how that affection is expressed revealed an emotional gap between the couple, leading to unexpected tension.

In a teaser video released on the 5th via SBS’s entertainment YouTube channel, Jeon Tae-poong and his wife Ji Mina appeared as a new “destined couple,” sharing moments from their daily life. In the video, Jeon returns home late at night and hugs his sleeping wife, confessing honestly, “I missed you so much.”

His wife’s reaction, however, was restrained. She pulled away, citing the smell of cigarettes, and appeared exhausted by his affectionate gestures. Jeon Tae-poong later shared, “I truly love my wife and always want to be close to her and express that love, but I feel those feelings aren’t fully received.”

Despite being married for 16 years, Jeon still longs for a relationship like that of lovers, while his wife is preoccupied with work and daily responsibilities. As she explained that she had too much to do, Jeon expressed feelings of disappointment and loneliness.

In an interview, he admitted, “As I felt a lack of appreciation, emotions escalated, and I even said, ‘Maybe we’re not compatible—let’s get a divorce.’” The core of the conflict, however, was not separation, but differing ways of expressing love.
