Actress Chae Jung-an’s life today feels more solid than glamorous. Rather than the label of being divorced for 18 years, what stands out more is the form of family she has chosen and built for herself. In a recently revealed glimpse of her daily life, Chae calmly shared the story behind adopting twin dogs.
In a video released on the YouTube channel Mipji Aneun Gwanjong Eonni, Chae Jung-an opened up her home in Hannam-dong. While the clean white-toned living room and accent furniture drew attention, it was her attitude toward life with her dogs that left the strongest impression.
She explained, “I originally had two dogs, but after losing one due to illness, I adopted a pair of twins. One of them has since passed away.” She added that she even hired a professional trainer due to a lack of proper training, emphasizing that the decision was not impulsive but made with responsibility. Taking in lives that need care as family reflects the way she approaches her own life choices.
This decision aligns closely with the path she has built since her divorce. In the past, Chae openly shared her thoughts on divorce on her own YouTube channel, saying, “I did well to get divorced.” The remark was less about rejecting her past marriage and more about affirming the life she has chosen since.
After debuting as a singer in 1999 and gaining popularity, Chae Jung-an stepped away from the entertainment industry following her marriage in 2005. She returned after her divorce in 2007 through the drama Coffee Prince, entering a second peak in her career. Since then, she has continued to redefine her life, both professionally and personally, at her own pace.
Adopting twins is an extension of that philosophy. Alone, but not isolated. Free, yet responsible. More than any title or status, Chae Jung-an’s present tells the story of someone who chose who to live with, and how.
