“The Hit Wasn’t Really Mine” Brian Reveals the Reality Behind His Home Shopping Success

Singer Brian is often described as a “home shopping hitmaker,” but his own story paints a more grounded picture. Rather than focusing on impressive figures, he chose to explain the reality behind how the system actually works.

On January 6, Brian released a video on his YouTube channel, where he reunited with longtime partner Hwanhee. As members of Fly to the Sky, the two shared memories of music before naturally turning the conversation to Brian’s recent home shopping activities.

When Hwanhee asked, “Do you really make that much from home shopping?” Brian calmly explained the structure of appearance fees. He said the payment is fixed, noting that even if the fee is 100,000 won per appearance, performing multiple times a month simply adds up at that rate. Sales volume, he emphasized, does not translate directly into personal income.

He also addressed common misconceptions about royalties. “Just because a product sells 100 million won doesn’t mean you get 10 percent of that,” Brian said. Referring to a vacuum cleaner he promoted that has sold around 4.4 billion won in total, he added jokingly that receiving even 10 percent in royalties would have been nice.

The remark was not about regret, but about understanding reality. Brian acknowledged that while he was the face of a successful product, he remained an entertainer working within a predefined system.

He also shared his enduring passion for music. Sitting down with Hwanhee after a long time, Brian reflected on his days with Fly to the Sky and hinted at his desire to return to singing.

More striking than the 4.4 billion won figure was Brian’s attitude toward it. Instead of boasting about earnings, he explained how the money is actually made, leaving a more honest and relatable impression than any exaggerated success story.
