Hani After the Postponed Wedding — Turning Back to Acting Following the Yang Jae-woong Controversy

Hani, formerly of EXID and now an actress, is considering a return to television, signaling a move to restart a chapter that had been on pause. Her decision comes after the postponement of her wedding and subsequent public scrutiny.

On the 8th, her agency Sublime confirmed that Hani has received an offer for KBS2’s upcoming weekend drama Love Is Coming and is currently reviewing it. If confirmed, it would mark her first TV appearance in about three years since Disney+’s Call It Love in 2023.

Love Is Coming centers on family stories and brings together writer Lee Kyung-hee and director Hong Seok-goo. Hani has been offered the role of a market side-dish shop owner—a grounded, everyday character that emphasizes warmth and realism rather than glamour.

The potential comeback carries added weight given recent events. Hani had planned to marry psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong last September after four years of dating, but the wedding was postponed indefinitely after a fatal incident involving a patient at a hospital he operates came to light. The controversy extended criticism toward Hani as well, leading her to step back from public activities.

During this period, she largely refrained from public statements, choosing instead to wait and reflect on the right moment to return as an actress. Considering a weekend drama now appears to be the result of that careful deliberation.

Weekend dramas reach a broad audience, offering an opportunity for image recovery and artistic growth. How naturally Hani embodies a relatable, slice-of-life role may prove crucial.

After a time marked by silence and personal challenges, whether Hani steps back into the spotlight—and how that choice is received—will be closely watched.
