"From Today, I Am Human" will premiere on January 16. The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "From Today, I Am Human" depicts a chaotic and humorous fantasy romance about an MZ-era nine-tailed fox who does not want to become human and a narcissistic human. Based on a new nine-tailed fox universe, the drama unfolds a lively and witty story that crosses between reality and imagination.
Director Kim Jung-kwon stated, "I was attracted by the freshness that overturns the existing nine-tailed fox stories, which led me to direct this drama." The protagonist, Eun-ho, is set as an MZ nine-tailed fox who does not want to become human, portrayed as a legendary yet realistic character. Writers Park Chan-young and Jo Ah-young explained, "Many young people struggle because they do not meet the standards of adulthood demanded by society," adding, "Eun-ho is a character who rebels against the world's accepted order and norms." They also mentioned that although Eun-ho's behavior may sometimes seem immature and irresponsible, her recklessness and innocence will provide comfort.
"From Today, I Am Human" is expected to follow the success of SBS's K-fantasy romance hits "Gui-gung" and "My Demon." Director Kim Jung-kwon emphasized, "This drama is a crossover genre of romance and fantasy," calling the combination both a challenge and an adventure. He explained, "Authentic acting is the power that makes the story believable," expressing his trust in the actors' performances.
Kim Hye-yoon and Lomon were cast as Eun-ho and Kang Si-yeol, respectively. Director Kim Jung-kwon mentioned that both actors were rising stars even before casting and that their fresh combination brought great energy to the production. He praised, "Kim Hye-yoon's greatest charm is sincerity, and Lomon's purity is attractive," adding that their acting chemistry was excellent.
Writers Park Chan-young and Jo Ah-young revealed that they wanted Eun-ho to be a character who smashes new products when upset and goes to a temple to pour gasoline when angry. They expressed their happiness and gratitude that Kim Hye-yoon took on the role, stating, "Without her lovely yet powerful acting, Eun-ho could not have been completed." Regarding Lomon's role as Kang Si-yeol, they explained that he must portray the process of becoming a top sports star since high school and that the evolving relationship with Eun-ho requires a wide range of emotions.
Director Kim Jung-kwon said, "I hope 'From Today, I Am Human' will not be seen simply as a story about someone's fate changing but as a work that makes viewers reflect on their own lives by watching someone living a different life." Writers Park Chan-young and Jo Ah-young stated, "The keyword of our drama is 'loving as myself,'" adding, "We wanted to tell a story about whether one can love others without giving up being oneself."
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "From Today, I Am Human" will premiere at 9:50 PM on January 16. The drama has already attracted attention before its broadcast, securing a spot in the top 10 in the TV drama category of Good Data Corporation's Fundex survey, further raising expectations for the show.
