Heo Chan-mi wins first place in genre-specific team battle on 'Miss Trot 4'... A touching performance


Heo Chan-mi broke down in tears as she claimed the Jin (眞) title in the genre-based team battle. According to Nielsen Korea, the January 8th broadcast of TV CHOSUN's "Miss Trot 4" recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 12.8% on January 9th. This figure rose compared to the previous week, marking the program as the number one daily show across all channels for four consecutive weeks, the top show in its time slot across all channels, the leading show on general programming and cable for the day, the number one Thursday variety show, and the top weekly variety show across all channels. The peak viewership rating reached 14.1%.

The episode featured genre-based team battles with fierce competition among participants. The first match was a dance trot battle between Workplace Team B and Obibu. Workplace Team B consisted of the charismatic actress Lee Eliya, comedian Lee Se-young, yoga instructor Lee Yoon-na, and music streamer Kwon Do-yeon. Obibu was made up of Noh Sa-bong from "Life is La La La," Heo Chan-mi's mother Kim Geum-hee, and the female Sessibong Dream Girls (Yoo Soo-hyun, Seok Ye-sook, Lee Yoo-jin). Workplace Team B delivered a polished performance of Yoyomi's "What's Up, Oppa" with seductive dance moves and stable harmonies. Obibu performed Lee Ja-yeon's "Chalrang Chalrang" with cute charm, creating a pleasant stage. The result was a 14-3 victory for Workplace Team B.

The second match was a traditional trot B battle between the Veteran Team and Active Team X. The Veteran Team included husky-voiced Jeok-woo, traditional balladeer Yumi, "Storm" original creator Jung Yoo-kyung, and Sunny Hill's main vocalist Ahn Jin-ah. Active Team X consisted of Heo Chan-mi, power vocalist Yoon Tae-hwa, 17-year veteran Chae Yoon, 88th pass candidate Kang Bo-kyung, 6-year active Kim Hee-jin, and Japanese trot singer Makoto. The Veteran Team completed Seol Woon-do's "Just One More Time" with seasoned skill, while Active Team X chose a marching drum performance to deliver a powerful stage. Heo Chan-mi dominated the audience with a solo performance, saying, "I will survive no matter what." The result was a 14-3 victory for Active Team X.

The third match was a traditional trot A battle between Active Team A and Cross-Genre Team A. Active Team A was a dream team composed of Master Preliminary contestant Jin Lee So-na, bassist trot queen Jang Hye-ri, Kim Hye-jin who returned after losing 10kg, Next Sim Soo-bong Kim San-ha, "Miss Trot" trainee Jung Hye-rin, and trot sunshine Choi Ji-ye. Cross-Genre Team A included Shin Hyun-hee, original singer of "Oppaya," soprano Park Hong-joo, trot IU Baek Ye-seul, and Mongolian girl Exikleng. Active Team A selected Ha Chun-hwa's "The Man Who Abandoned Me," delivering a solemn sword dance and cute comic performance, winning unanimously.

Workplace Team A2 and Active Team B competed in a 70s and 80s trot battle. Workplace Team A consisted of breast cancer survivor Lee Ji-na, art academy director Lee Jin-hwa, former secretary Kim Yu-ri, and Taekkyeon girl Won Ha-yeon. Active Team B included 9-year trot singer Yeon Ye-jin, 2-year Yeom Yu-ri, 16-year Kim Da-na, 2-year Gong Mi-ran, "Miss Trot 2" university division graduate Choi Eun-bi, and 5-year Yoon Seo-ryeong. Lee Ji-na moved viewers by shaving her hair at a salon with her teammates, saying, "My hair is falling out in handfuls due to chemotherapy." Workplace Team A2 chose Jeon Young-rok's "Write Love with a Pencil," impressing the audience with a pure voice and a relaxed stage presence. The result was a dramatic 9-8 victory for Active Team B.

The much-anticipated team mission Jin, Seon, Mi results were also revealed. Jin (眞) went to Heo Chan-mi, Seon (善) to Lee So-na, and Mi (美) to Yoon Yoon-seo. Heo Chan-mi participated in "Miss Trot 4" with the determination that "this is the last time," and her mother Kim Geum-hee also competed, with the mother and daughter both receiving all hearts in the Master Preliminary round. When Heo Chan-mi was announced as Jin, she tearfully said, "My mother appeared because of me, so I am really grateful and also feel sorry."

In this broadcast, a total of 36 participants survived the genre-based team battles and secured advancement to the second round of the finals, while 19 were eliminated. The 36 survivors will compete in the one-on-one death match of the second round of the finals. In the one-on-one death match, participants choose their desired opponent for a 1:1 battle, and only the winner advances directly to the next round. At the end of the broadcast, Yoon Yoon-seo took the stage and shocked viewers by choosing Hong Sung-yoon as her opponent. Hong Sung-yoon had previously earned praise for his rich vocal tone and secured a place in the Master Preliminary round. The winner of the big match between Yoon Yoon-seo and Hong Sung-yoon will be revealed in next week's broadcast.
