Daniel confessed his feelings to fans as he left the group NewJeans. On the afternoon of the 12th, he held a live broadcast through his newly opened personal SNS. During the broadcast, Daniel appeared overwhelmed with emotion and teared up as he greeted his fans. He said, "This moment of saying goodbye feels somewhat unfamiliar. Saying 'thank you for waiting' is not enough. Bernies (NewJeans fandom) stayed right there. That warmth truly lingers for a long time."
Daniel revealed that he had learned and had to endure a lot during the past time. He recalled precious memories with fans, saying, "My feelings toward my family and my perspective on the world have changed a little." He added, "When I think of Bernies, the first thing that comes to mind is the eyes. The moments we faced each other on stage. Even when the music stopped, the hearts kept connecting. Those feelings and memories still quietly protect me now."
He also mentioned the current legal dispute surrounding him. After losing the lawsuit confirming the validity of his exclusive contract between his agency ADORE and NewJeans, Daniel expressed his intention to return, but ADORE notified him of contract termination on December 29 of last year. ADORE cited reasons such as signing contracts conflicting with the exclusive contract, independent entertainment activities, and violations of the exclusive contract that damaged the honor and credibility of both parties and NewJeans. Daniel stated, "There is one thing I definitely want to convey. I fought to the end to be with the members. And that truth remains with me. Since many situations are still in the process of being resolved, there will come a day when I will tell you what happened and answer your questions."
He emphasized, "And this much I can say clearly: NewJeans is always in a corner of my heart." Daniel told fans, "Even if we are in slightly different places, we become one Bernie with the same heart. Bernies, this is not the end. Whether it's music or silence, small moments, I want to share them sincerely and beautifully. I want to slowly return the feelings Bernies gave me in the way I know. I hope your days, the days ahead, are always healthy and filled with light. Thank you always."
Meanwhile, ADORE announced that it will hold legally responsible one member of Daniel's family, who bears significant responsibility for causing this dispute and the delay in NewJeans's departure and return, as well as former CEO Min Hee-jin. ADORE has filed a lawsuit for penalty damages and compensation against Daniel, Min Hee-jin, and others, with the claimed amount reportedly reaching approximately 43.1 billion KRW.
Daniel revealed his first feelings after being expelled from NewJeans through an SNS live broadcast. He greeted fans with "Hello Bernies" and showed tears during the broadcast. About 50,000 fans gathered for the broadcast, and Daniel communicated using a mix of Korean and English. He recalled precious memories with fans, saying, "I learned a lot and had to endure much during the past time."
He said, "Under an unfamiliar sky, I met myself again, and I kept stories for Bernies in my heart. I haven't shared them yet, but I will someday." Regarding the legal dispute, he said in English, "When the time comes, I will tell you everything about the lawsuit and all the things you are curious about." Because of this, the public expressed regret that Daniel spoke about the 'lawsuit' part only in English.
ADORE judged that it was difficult for Daniel to continue as a member of NewJeans and an artist under ADORE and notified him of contract termination. Subsequently, ADORE filed a lawsuit claiming damages worth 43.1 billion KRW against Daniel, his family, and former CEO Min Hee-jin. Daniel has appointed legal representatives and is responding accordingly.
