The unit "Meboz" of the group Seventeen, consisting of Dokyeom and Seungkwan, has garnered great attention among music fans with their new song "Blue" music video. This music video is noted for its outstanding immersion, with lead actors Lee Yumi and Noh Sanghyun revealing key points for appreciation.
On January 14, Lee Yumi and Noh Sanghyun shared through their agency Pledis Entertainment, "We were happy to participate in the work of artists we usually admire. It was a joyful and meaningful process to express the deep emotions of 'Blue' through video." They also added, "The atmosphere was even better thanks to the members visiting the set and cheering us on."
The cinematic version of the "Blue" music video depicts a dramatized story of a man (Noh Sanghyun) who carries a deep shadow due to an almost insurmountable wound and a woman (Lee Yumi) who loves him but is gradually growing weary. The heartfelt voices of Dokyeom and Seungkwan, the passionate performances of the two actors, and the beautiful direction combined to elicit a strong response from fans. This work entered the "Daily Popular Music Video" rankings on YouTube in Korea, Japan, and Canada.
Lee Yumi, who played a woman unknowingly drifting away to a distant place, explained, "I focused on expressing the delicate emotional line of the music. I wanted to convey the loneliness that is not filled even when with someone and the sincere self that appears when alone." She emphasized, "If you immerse yourself in the emotions of each character, you will feel a deeper lingering impression."
Noh Sanghyun portrayed a man stuck in place, unable to overcome trauma after a traffic accident, evoking a poignant feeling in viewers. He said, "The storyline of the work was very attractive," and explained the viewing point: "The music video briefly shows a montage of the two protagonists when they were happy. It would be even better if you focus on the appearance of the lovers at that time and their current relationship."
According to the agency, Dokyeom and Seungkwan visited the set during the music video shoot to give gifts and messages of support to the actors. Behind-the-scenes stills released the day before captured the warm atmosphere among the four, conveying a heartwarming mood. Dokyeom and Seungkwan responded, "The actors' profound expressiveness blended with our emotions to produce a good result," and added, "We thank the two actors once again for their wonderful performances."
Released on January 12, "Blue" has received praise as "a song to listen to every winter," demonstrating the strength of a classic ballad. The vocal challenge released ahead of the song's digital release surpassed 160 million cumulative views. Challenges featuring vocal masters such as Davichi's Lee Haeri, Limujin, and Younha were also released sequentially, drawing attention.
It has also started gaining momentum overseas. "Blue" entered the top 10 of the iTunes "Top Songs" chart in 12 countries and regions immediately after its release and ranked high on the "Worldwide iTunes Songs" chart for two consecutive days. Seventeen's "Blue" is receiving positive responses both domestically and internationally, further solidifying their musical achievements.
