Jung Woo-sung's agency has issued an official statement regarding the suspicion of 'Mom Cafe viral marketing' related to praise for his acting skills raised on online communities. On January 14, Artist Company announced that it is "completely unfounded."
Jung Woo-sung appeared as prosecutor Jang Geon-young in the Disney+ original series "Made in Korea," which was first released on December 24 last year. After the release of this work, opinions on Jung Woo-sung's acting were divided among viewers. Some criticized it as "too awkward and overly forced," while others responded positively, saying it "seems fitting for the character."
Along with this, many posts praising or defending Jung Woo-sung's acting were posted on some online communities. Netizens pointed out that these posts had similar formats and posting dates, raising suspicions of public opinion manipulation and viral marketing.
Jung Woo-sung's agency reiterated that these suspicions are "unfounded" and drew a line against the viral marketing allegations.
Meanwhile, "Made in Korea" is set in South Korea during the 1970s, a time of both chaos and leap forward. The series tells the story of Baek Ki-tae (played by Hyun Bin), a man aiming to reach the pinnacle of wealth and power by using the country as a profit model, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young (played by Jung Woo-sung), who pursues him. The final episode of season 1 will be released on January 14.
