

Comedian Lee Su-ji revealed that she dreamed of becoming an announcer during her childhood and challenged the broadcasting club audition but was eliminated during the camera test. On January 13, Lee Su-ji appeared on the web variety show "New Woman" on the YouTube channel "Rolling Thunder," where she shared stories about her dreams and setbacks.
Lee Su-ji said, "My dream was to be an announcer when I was in elementary school." She detailed the process of applying for the broadcasting club audition in the fifth grade. Lee Su-ji said, "The audition involved opening a Korean language textbook page and reading it, and I read it very well. I passed the first round." However, she took a camera test in the second round and was eliminated. She added, "I showed my front, back, and side views and was rejected." Lee Su-ji expressed her feelings at the time, saying, "Actually, elementary school students don't usually have to look at the camera, so I felt very unfair about failing then."
Lee Kyung-sil responded to Lee Su-ji's story, saying, "Even now, I want to find that teacher and confront them. I want to ask, 'What exactly were the criteria?'" Lee Su-ji calmly said, "I think I gradually realized reality then. I thought, 'Ah, looks just won't cut it.'" Jo Hye-ryun made people laugh by saying, "I was digging from a young age. I wanted to attend piano lessons, but they gave me a hoe and a shovel. So, while digging, I looked in the mirror and really saw there was no hope."
Lee Su-ji added, "My mom and dad kept saying, 'You're pretty, you're pretty,' so I thought, 'I really am pretty.'" Lee Kyung-sil replied, "So you shouldn't just listen to family stories." Lee Su-ji revealed that her childhood setbacks became the turning point leading her to become a comedian. She recalled, "In my first year of high school, my homeroom teacher said, 'We're having a school festival, and I'll give you about seven minutes to make people laugh in the auditorium.'"
Lee Su-ji said, "I wrote comedy with my friends over the weekend. We did impressions of the teacher and made things like that, and when everyone reacted to me, I thought, 'This is really fun. I want to be a comedian.'" She emphasized that this experience was the decisive moment that made her a trending comedian.
