Park Geun-hyung returns to variety shows after 6 years... "Opened up about his theater life on 'Radio Star'"

Veteran actor Park Geun-hyung appeared on MBC's variety show "Radio Star" to share his thoughts on returning to variety shows after a long time and to update on his recent theater activities. In the episode aired on January 14, Park Geun-hyung expressed his feelings about appearing on a variety show for the first time in six years. He said, "When I last appeared on 'Radio Star,' I was worried because I didn't have a talent for variety shows," adding, "I was relieved because people around me praised me for doing better than expected." He also mentioned his concerns about Kim Gu-ra, saying, "Fortunately, I heard he has become much gentler."

Park Geun-hyung revealed that he spent a lot of time on theater last year. He explained, "I thought I didn't have much time left, so I challenged myself a lot," and added, "I participated in three plays just last year." His performances included "Waiting for Godot," "Death of a Salesman," and "Waiting for Waiting for Godot," and he shared, "I was on stage almost continuously for over two years." This statement drew admiration from the cast members.

Park Geun-hyung shared an episode from the past when he scolded rookie actress Jeon Do-yeon. He recalled, "Jeon Do-yeon has quite a temper. She played my daughter and memorized her lines like a parrot," and continued, "We were going to work together for six months, but hearing her was tough. After practice, I told her, 'Try saying your lines. Our language has a rhythm and flow that you have to follow,' but then a senior told me to stop. She didn't care and kept pushing forward, crying." Park Geun-hyung praised Jeon Do-yeon's persistence, saying, "We did that for six months. I thought to myself, 'Wow, she's an amazing kid.'"

He also talked about his past romantic acting with Kim Hye-soo. He revealed that in the drama "Rose-Colored Life," he played the husband of Kim Hye-soo, who is more than 30 years younger than him. He confessed, "Are these people sane? The age gap was so big that it was embarrassing," and said the age difference hindered his immersion. He also shared, "I wondered, 'Why did she decide to act at that age?' It was a pity. We even directed the kissing scenes indirectly. We used many tricks like placing a finger over the lips or pretending to turn away."

Lastly, Park Geun-hyung said he still keeps in touch with Kim Hye-soo. He said, "I still contact Kim Hye-soo a lot. She visits when she's doing theater." Park Geun-hyung's appearance reaffirmed his sincere stories on variety shows and his passion for theater.
