Magician Choi Hyun-woo revealed that the magic ecosystem is being threatened by the spread of YouTube and artificial intelligence. On the MBC entertainment program "Radio Star," which aired on the 14th, Choi Hyun-woo mentioned, "These days, YouTube is the worst environment for magicians," sharing the industry's realistic concerns. He explained, "Magic secrets are being fully exposed. Especially because of the 0.25x slow-motion viewing feature, each trick is analyzed one by one," adding, "It feels more like an explanatory video than magic." He also expressed concerns that the advancement of AI is causing industry secrets to be easily revealed.
In response, Kim Gu-ra joked, "Our broadcasters are the worst too. Are you the only one suffering?" On the show, Choi Hyun-woo also shared his determination regarding the magic he prepared. He said, "I wanted to prepare magic that even the masters would be satisfied with," and added, "I wanted to show magic that embraces not just one generation, but all generations." Emphasizing that this was his fourth appearance, Choi Hyun-woo said, "I get especially nervous in front of Kim Gu-ra. Usually, he lets things slide even if he's suspicious, but because of his extreme T personality, it's hard to satisfy him." Song Ok-soon responded with a laugh, saying, "I'm a T too."
Based on about 30 years of his magic career, Choi Hyun-woo presented a magic show that can be enjoyed across generations on this broadcast. He explained the meaning behind his statement that "YouTube is the worst" regarding magic trends and shared his thoughts on the direction magic should take in a changing era. He also revealed why he described AI as "kind." Choi Hyun-woo took time to verify the phrase "The nation's magician recognized by AI," asking AI questions live in the studio. Kim Gu-ra personally took on the verification on site, creating great laughter.
He revealed that he prepared a magic show that people from their 20s to 80s can enjoy together. Choi Hyun-woo confessed that he held an emergency meeting before appearing due to the skeptical Kim Gu-ra, and during the magic demonstrations that resembled an actual performance, the cast repeatedly expressed admiration. In particular, Kim Gu-ra was said to have nodded repeatedly in amazement after watching Choi Hyun-woo's magic.
The broadcast also featured a special segment for viewers. Choi Hyun-woo said, "I will reveal the secrets of magic," and personally taught simple magic tricks that anyone can follow at home. With his kind explanations befitting "the nation's magician," he captured the studio's full attention. The show also revealed behind-the-scenes details of the sensational "group hypnosis" magic show that earned him the nickname "K Harry Potter." When he explained the scale and process of the group hypnosis magic performed at that time, the MCs and cast were left astonished.
Choi Hyun-woo added laughter by sharing a magical episode where he claimed to have been told the lottery numbers in a dream. Finally, he raised the atmosphere to its peak with a special joint magic performance with Won-hee from the girl group Aileet, crossing generations and genres. "Radio Star" aired at 10:30 PM on the 14th.
