Lee Chan-won makes acting debut in 'SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon'... First broadcast on the 25th

MBC's long-running program "Mystery TV SurfRIIZE" returns after a three-month revamp as "SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon." The first episode will air on January 25 at 10:40 AM. Established as a leading mystery variety show in South Korea, the program has been newly revamped into a storytelling talk show in the form of a special salon gathering to solve mysteries. The production team stated that they have further strengthened the mystery element, combining vivid storytelling based on true stories with outstanding performances by scene-stealer actors unique to "SurfRIIZE" to enhance the show's appeal.

The newly organized "SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon" will be led by three MCs. The main host will be singer Lee Chan-won. Lee Chan-won takes on acting for the first time in this program and plans to captivate viewers with method acting and excellent delivery. During the first recording, he raised expectations by making a viewership pledge. Details about Lee Chan-won's acting challenge can be seen in the broadcast on the 25th.

In opposition to Lee Chan-won, popular comedian Kwak Beom appears as the "Mystery Crusher." Kwak Beom will investigate mysteries with a cold, sharp perspective, creating a tense rivalry with Lee Chan-won. This is expected to heighten the tension in the talk segments.

Additionally, Park So-young, an announcer who grew up watching "SurfRIIZE" and a rising star in MBC variety shows, joins as a salon member. Park So-young will represent the viewers' perspective and uncover the truth behind mysteries with curious and somewhat self-interested questions.

The program will also feature Kim Min-jin, Kim Ha-young, Son Yoon-sang, and others, who are faces of "SurfRIIZE," acting as scene-stealers. They will reconstruct incidents with dense acting, adding immersion to the stories. The production team emphasized that the show will provide a new viewing experience that goes beyond "watching stories" to "digging into stories."

Although Lee Chan-won and Kwak Beom are working together for the first time on a variety show, during the recording, both suddenly grabbed the back of their necks simultaneously, freezing the studio atmosphere. It is rumored that announcer Park So-young scolded veteran entertainer Kwak Beom with a sharp "Get out." The full story of this incident can be seen in the broadcast on the 25th.

The production team explained that the reason "Mystery TV SurfRIIZE" has been loved for over 20 years is "the power of storytelling," and they have maximized this power in the new "SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon." They added, "'SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon' will be a program that not only surprises viewers but also makes them doubt and think until the very end."

The first broadcast will feature 100% pure real stories, including an unidentified creature that disappeared leaving only a witness behind, miraculous scenes defying scientific probability, mysterious incidents and accidents full of questions, and villains driven mad to the point of giving up their humanity. "SurfRIIZE Mystery Salon" will premiere on January 25 at 10:40 AM.
