Former Jannabi member Yoo Young-hyun issues handwritten apology to school violence victims... "I have been forgiven"

Former Jannabi member Yoo Young-hyun left the group amid allegations of school violence and it has been revealed that he received forgiveness from the victim. On January 14, Jannabi posted a lengthy statement on their official fan cafe explaining the progress of the incident.

In the statement, Jannabi said, "This happened in November 2024," and apologized for not communicating with fans for a long time. Regarding the allegations of school violence against Yoo Young-hyun posted on a major online community on May 23, 2019, Jannabi immediately confirmed the facts with Yoo Young-hyun, who denied committing the acts mentioned. However, Jannabi explained that the part about the entire class being involved was true, and that Yoo Young-hyun felt responsible and chose to leave the team.

Yoo Young-hyun has since made efforts to sincerely communicate with the victim. Jannabi stated, "In such a situation where he was not completely innocent, we judged that it was not right to publicly argue through the media," and revealed that Yoo Young-hyun left the team on his own.

Victim A shared in a letter released along with Jannabi's statement that Yoo Young-hyun continuously tried to contact and sincerely express his feelings. A also mentioned an episode where Yoo Young-hyun visited the friends who had bullied A at the time and obtained handwritten apology letters from them. A said, "Thanks to his efforts, I was able to somewhat escape the darkness I had held onto for a long time."

Jannabi apologized for disappointing fans through this incident and said, "We hope this message will somewhat ease the hearts of the fans who have stood by Jannabi and endured so much together."

The agency Peponi Music explained that they shared the forgiveness process with the victim's consent and conveyed this statement with the hope that all parties involved can heal and move forward.

Jannabi debuted in 2014 with the single "Rocket" and currently consists of two members, Choi Jung-hoon and Kim Do-hyung. They have been loved by the public with songs such as "For Hesitant Lovers" and "The Hot Summer Night Is Over, What's Left Is Unsightly."
