The BTS world tour will be held in Busan on June 12 and 13. This concert is part of the world tour in which BTS is participating as a complete group for the first time in four years. In particular, June 13 is BTS's debut anniversary, and the fact that the concert is being held in Busan, the hometown of members Jimin and Jungkook, has attracted fans' attention.
Accommodation bookings in the Busan area surged as soon as the concert news was announced. According to the industry on the 15th, accommodation rates in Busan rose sharply to coincide with the concert dates. Some accommodations were priced at up to ten times their usual rates. A lodging facility in Dongnae-gu raised its rate from 68,000 won on June 10 to 769,000 won on the 12th and 13th, the concert days. A lodging in Gijang-gun set its rates at 502,000 won on the 12th and 431,000 won on the 13th, up from 98,000 won on June 10. A facility in Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu, increased its rate from 300,000 won on June 11 to 932,000 won on the 12th.
Busan city stated that it has no way to sanction the issue of 'exorbitant pricing' by lodging facilities. The city plans to conduct on-site guidance activities in cooperation with district offices and tourism associations. Busan emphasized the positive economic impact of this concert, expecting increases in hotel room occupancy rates, tourist visits to attractions, and sales in downtown commercial districts.
BTS's world tour will take place in a total of 34 cities across North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East, with 79 shows starting from Goyang. Domestically, Goyang and Busan were selected as concert cities. Busan city has made various efforts since last year to attract this concert. Park Hyung-joon, mayor of Busan, stated on Facebook, "During the Busan concert, a special time will be prepared to share the significance of the debut day with BTS fans from around the world."
Following the announcement of BTS's concert, local hotel reservations were quickly sold out. Only a few rooms remained online, but within hours of the announcement, it became difficult to find available rooms. A reporter checked luxury hotels and 3- to 4-star hotels in Haeundae, Busanjin-gu, and Yeongdo-gu, finding that many accommodations showed 'fully booked' signs.
Cases related to rising accommodation rates were also confirmed. On accommodation booking platforms, the deluxe double room rate at a luxury hotel in Busan on the concert day was shown as 785,000 won. This is significantly higher compared to 298,000 won the previous week and 390,000 won the following week. A 4-star chain hotel in the Haeundae area also showed rooms usually priced in the 300,000 won range listed at the mid-to-high 600,000 won range on the concert day. The hotel explained that these prices were not set by themselves.
BTS has previously held concerts in Busan. During the 2022 Busan Expo bid concert, some accommodations set prices dozens of times higher than usual, causing controversy. At that time, Busan city demanded corrective measures through the operation of a lodging price reporting center and joint on-site inspections.
