Nana defended herself against a home intruder in self-defense... Police determine "no charges"

The police have decided not to prosecute actress Nana (real name Im Jin-ah). Nana was found not guilty in the police investigation regarding the case in which she was counter-sued by a robber, Mr. A, who had broken into her home. The Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province officially announced the decision not to prosecute Nana on the 16th.

The incident occurred on November 15 of last year. Mr. A was arrested and sent to prosecution on charges of breaking into Nana's home armed with a weapon, threatening Nana and her mother, and demanding valuables. It was confirmed that Mr. A used a ladder to climb onto the veranda, opened an unlocked door, and entered the house. He assaulted Nana's mother by strangling her upon discovery, and a physical struggle ensued when Nana intervened to stop him.

The police judged Nana's actions to be self-defense. Nana inflicted injuries on Mr. A while stopping his attack, and the police recognized this as justified self-defense. Mr. A was detained on charges of injuring Nana and her mother, and Nana's mother lost consciousness after being strangled by Mr. A.

While detained in the detention center, Mr. A filed a counter-suit against Nana for attempted murder and special injury. He claimed that the injuries Nana inflicted on him amounted to attempted murder and submitted a complaint. The police found no grounds for Mr. A's claims and, after conducting face-to-face investigations with both parties, decided not to prosecute.

Nana's agency, Sublime, strongly opposed Mr. A's counter-suit. The agency stated, "The perpetrator filed a separate lawsuit against Nana without any remorse," and criticized it as "an inhumane act exploiting the fact that the victim is a celebrity." The agency also announced that it would take all possible civil and criminal legal actions against Mr. A.

A police official explained, "We conducted face-to-face investigations with both parties regarding the attempted murder counter-suit, but found no grounds and decided not to prosecute."

Mr. A is scheduled to have his first trial on charges of robbery and injury at the Uijeongbu District Court Namyangju Branch on the 20th. Further legal proceedings are expected to follow depending on the progress of the case.
